March 8, 2024: Downtime for Chapter 5 Season 2 is now live. Unfortunately, it's going to take longer than expected.

With attention turning to the start of a brand-new season, players are starting to wonder when Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 downtime will take place.

Before Chapter 5 Season 2 goes live, Epic Games will switch off the Fortnite servers allowing the developers to add a wealth of new content into the battle royale. The new update will feature the Odyssey NPC in addition to a new battle pass for players to work through.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 downtime begins on March 8, 2024 at 8 AM GMT and will last a few hours while Epic Games is preparing the launch of the new season.

We estimate Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 downtime to last for a few hours at the very least. Epic Games has revealed the downtime will have to be extended for at least eight hours, putting a halt to the Season 2 action.

With plenty of content expected to arrive, there's always a chance the downtime takes longer than expected so bear that in mind when attempting to load back into the action once the downtime has come to an end.
