Genshin Impact has received a huge update, bringing a new cast of characters, new animals, collectibles, and most importantly a new region. Here's how to get to Sumeru and explore the latest addition to Teyvat.
The region is a vast area of rainforest and desert, peppered with towns and new Domains to fight your way through. Characters Tighnari and Collei are waiting for us in the first area, but the entry to it can be a bit confusing, as it is almost hidden. But not to worry, we're here with an easy guide to get you where you need to go.
While we're on the subject of Genshin's new Version 3.0 update, take a look at the best builds for Tighnari and Collei, and who's coming up in the banner schedule.
How to get to Sumeru in Genshin Impact
The new region of Sumeru is located to the West of The Chasm and Liyue. It is made up of the Avidya Forest, and desert lands, with Sumeru City located in the centre.
To get there, you'll need to head into the Chasm's overworld area. The easiest way to find the path to Sumeru is to teleport to the Statue of the Seven in the Chasm, and then head south to Cinnabar Cliff. You'll see a new Teleport Waypoint, at the entrance to a path in the cliffside. Follow this, and you'll notice mushrooms and greenery start to sprout... now, you're in Sumeru!
If not already activated, the new quest will appear on your screen and tell you to continue along the path. You'll come out of the other side and find a new Statue of the Seven on a tall rock in front of you. And there you go! You're now free to roam Sumeru as you please.
Other than the official path related to the quest, you can blindly find your way to the Sumeru region by walking above and beyond The Chasm. For instance, heading West from Lumberpick Valley will get you straight into Sumeru territory, but you'll need to head to a Statue of the Seven to unlock the map. Really, we recommend following the quest path.
What is Sumeru?
Sumeru is the fourth region of Teyvat to be added to the game, one of seven revealed in the story trailer way back in 2020. It is based on African areas, specifically Egypt and the rainforests, with distinct Moroccan themes in the towns and markets.

Sumeru has ushered in the last of the elements, too - Dendro. The leafy element causes plants to grow and has some seriously cool reactions with the previous elements we've got. The Dendro Archon, Lesser Lord Kusanali, resides here too. They will feature in upcoming story quests.
