After reaching the Institute of Natural Philosophy, players will come across a locked door that can only be unlocked vaguely named item called Key to Some Place in Genshin Impact.
Since it's a rare item in the game, you may have a hard time finding it in the vast area of Fontaine. But worry not, as we've got you covered with this essential guide to finding the Key to Some Place in The Institute, followed by instructions to use them.
If you've already unlocked the Fontaine characters, then why not check our build guides for Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet? We've also got some Genshin Impact codes, and an updated tier list.
How to get the Key to Some Place in Genshin Impact
To get the Key To Some Place in The Institute, you need to complete the Aqueous Tidemark quest first. This quest is given by Virgil, who can be found near the Statue of the Seven in the Court of Fontaine.
In this location, you will find two chests behind you. One of them contains the Key to Some Place in The Institute, while the other one contains a Drained Conch Cup, which is a quest item for another quest called Book of Revealing from Canotila’s Book of Esoteric Revelations. You should open both chests and claim the items.
Where to use The Key to Some Place in Genshin Impact
The Key to Some Place in The Institute is used to open a door in the east-most bottom corner of The Institute. After completing the Aqueous Tidemark quest, you can access this door by teleporting back to the waypoint in Tatarasuna and going inside the tunnel under the water.
You will see a mechanism that requires the key to activate it. Once you use the key, the door will open and lead you to a secret room. In this room, you will find several enemies that you have to defeat before you can loot the treasures inside.
