How to find the real Tyr in God of War Ragnarok
Before we get into the instructions of how to find the real Tyr, it's worth noting that there will be some spoilers for the latter parts of God of War Ragnarok. Stop reading now if you're worried about spoilers.
After beating the game and heading back into the world with Freya and Mimir by your side, you'll want to head to Niflheim, which is where you go to claim your rewards for hitting Odin's ravens throughout the nine realms.
When you go there after beating the game, you'll find two new areas have opened up off the main walkway. After heading there, walk up past the blacksmith and you'll find a new area just before the tree area. There'll be some brief chat about what the place is, which turns out to be an Asgardian prison.
Head down into it and you'll find a variety of enemies to take on and a couple of beams that can be moved by a chain pull. Make your way down to the bottom using the Draupnir Spear and the two chains.
Once you're at the bottom, have killed all the enemies, and opened all of the doors, you'll need to get to a currently unreachable place. You now need to jump up to second level and move beam furthest from you to the middle level.
Then, use the nearest beam to jump up a level and use the chain there to move the beam you just used to the bottom of the prison. Then use the other beam to jump back down. Then, move the beam you just used back to the bottom again, so they’re both at the bottom. Now, you’ll be able to jump down and into the area where Tyr’s cell is.
You'll have a quick chat with him and go your separate ways. You'll also get the rewards for completing this short side quest. Before you leave, though, be sure to open all the doors and grab all of the collectibles so that you don't have to come back.
