Want to know how to unlock Hogwarts Legacy wand handles? Getting the option early is a good shout for a number of reasons. They won't change how you play the game, but they will give you new ways to customize your wizard or witch while fuelling your desire to explore Hogwarts in search of more, better, and fancier ornaments for your magical sticks.
Down below, we'll quickly go over how to unlock wand handles in Hogwarts Legacy, while you'll want to get them, and where to look for more to add to your collection. We'll even add images of each and every wand handle we come across, so you can look for that one specific handle you'll actually want to use.
And for some more Hogwarts Legacy guides to open in another tab, check out the Hogwarts Legacy photo mode. It's a good use case for wand handles. Lastly, learn how to lock on to make combat much easier. Without it, you'll be spinning the camera around a lot more than you need to.
How to unlock and use Hogwarts Legacy Wand Handles
As soon as you hop onto the gear menu to look at your character customization options, you'll notice that you can't change your wand handle straight away.
Part of that is down to the fact that you're using a loan wand before you get your own from Hogsmead, but you'll need to do something else to unlock the option to customize your own after you buy it - a quest you can complete before you get your own.
Unlocking wand handles requires the completion of a quest called Flying Off the Shelves. You can accept it from Cressida Blume in the hall just outside the library, but only after learning Accio from your first Charms class with Professor Ronen.
Once you have those prerequisites covered, just pick up the quest from Cressida. It's a short and very straightforward quest, but you can check out our Flying Off the Shelves quest guide if you're struggling. It talks about where to find the books she needs, and how to actually collect them.

Once you've found them, just take them back to Cressida to complete the quest. From that point on, you'll be able to access the Wand Handles sub-menu from the gear screen to change the look of your wand. You'll even start to collect new wand handle designs as you adventure around the game.
For some final words, read up on the Hogwarts Legacy DLC and our extensive transmog guide to understand how the rest of the gear system works. It even goes over how to raise or lower the hood on your robe. That's another neat way to mix up your Hogwarts uniform.
