Honkai Star Rail version 3.4, "For the Sun is Set to Die," is packed with a lot of events, rewards, and even more character banners. This can lead to the dilemma of not knowing who to pull for since the banners' line-up is quite amazing for both Phases 1 and 2. So, who should you pull for in version 3.4?

There are new characters in the latest version of Honkai Star Rail, such as Phainon, whose story we'll explore in the Trailblaze Mission, and the characters from the Fate/stay night collaboration, Archer and Saber. Many players do want the latest characters, but we should also consider the character reruns in this patch.

Who Should You Pull For in Honkai Star Rail version 3.4?

There are many things we can consider when choosing which banner to pull from with our beloved Star Rail Special Passes and Stellar Jades. In the latest Honkai Star Rail version, Phase 1 has Phainon, Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle. Phase 2 will feature three more characters: Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade.

Apart from them, there's also Saber and Archer from the Fate/stay night collaboration. There are a total of 9 characters that you can choose, and it doesn't even include their Light Cones yet.

To be honest, the Harmony characters in Phase 1 are great choices overall. However, I'd recommend Tribbie first compared to the other characters in version 3.4. Though it will depend on the characters you already have on your teams.

If you don't have any specific teams, Tribbie is a good universal support who can fit almost any team you can think of. She's also very viable in many of the game's content, such as Memory of Chaos (MoC), Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow.

She's considered an S+ tier character by many players due to the buffs (especially the rare RES PEN buff) she provides to her team. Other than that, she can even deal a good amount of damage despite being a support character.

Do consider that she benefits the most from teammates who have Area of Effect (AoE) damage. She's also fairly easy to play, and you don't have to go above and beyond just to see what she has to offer.

Phainon

If you have an abundance of support characters, then you'll have to consider getting the potential damage-dealing characters like Phainon and the others following the Path of Destruction in Phase 2. He has self-healing capabilities, so you don't need any Abundance characters like Huohuo or Hyacine.

So, if you're someone who, for some reason, built many of their support characters but don't have DPS characters, then your best bet will be to pull for Phainon. He also seems like a fun character to play as, almost cosplaying yourself as a boss with his ultimate.

Sparkle

Another contender will be Sparkle, since she's able to provide skill point (SP) refresh to her team. This is incredibly useful for teams and characters that spend so much SP. She's SP positive despite needing to use her skills a lot, thanks to her ultimate. Other than that, she can also accelerate a teammate's action with her 50% Action Advance. Plus, she provides monstrous buffs to her allies.

However, you will need to consider that building her is not an easy task. You have to get the right stats for certain builds, and SPD tuning will be required (either you'll build her -1 Speed or high Speed). While she's not on top of the tier lists for content clearing, she's still considered an A-tier support.

Firefly

I'd say that amongst the three Destruction characters that will be featured in the second phase banner, it's Firefly that will be worth getting. A close second will be Jingliu for me. Firefly can deal some intense damage, even when I was just starting to get her Relics. The thing will be, she'll need the Harmony MC or Fugue to function properly, so that's something to consider as well.

However, I'd have to say that you'll have to assess the elements you already have. If you already have a Fire DPS, then you'd want to consider the other two options. Blade's still pretty good as well, ranking well in tier lists for end-game content.

With the Fate/stay night collaboration, it'd be good to keep an eye out for Saber as well, since she looks good as a DPS. Some may think otherwise since some collaboration characters can be bad. You'll also get a free Archer, so you can think about getting the dupes for an easy E1 (if you have any pulls) if you want him on your team.

These are only some recommendations on whom you can choose to pull for in Honkai Star Rail version 3.4. I always believe that you should pull for the character that you like, since the meta will always change, and there may be optimizations in the future that can benefit some forgotten characters.
