Fast travel in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an easy but limited mechanic you can use during your travels throughout the Forgotten Realms. Before you can fast-travel, you will have to unlock the Ancient Rune Circles. These act as fast travel points.

Once you find them while exploring the world, approach them and you will permanently unlock them so you can fast travel whenever you want.

The only thing you need to do is to open up the fast travel option in your mini-map in the top right corner of the screen. Select the Ancient Rune Circle you wish to travel to and you will be ready to go. There is no cost for fast travelling, so go ahead and use this functionality as you please.

You will also be able to fast travel to your camp. There, you can change your party’s composition, interact with your companions, change abilities and spells, and rest. The main advantage of using the fast travel function to go to the camp is that you can directly go back to the exact spot you fast travelled from.

You can still travel to any of the Ancient Rune Circles you have discovered, but being able to return to the exact place you were before travelling to your camp marks a huge tactical and strategic advantage you can use whenever necessary.

And that’s how fast travel works in Baldur's Gate 3! Travel across the land in a matter of seconds and from time to time, escape the clutches of deadly monsters. Be sure to check out how to dual wield in Baldur's Gate 3 and how to pause in Baldur's Gate 3.
