As the tall but nimble Na’vi are able to get through the Pandora wilds with relative ease in James Cameron's movie franchise, this movement ability translates well to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, allowing you to traverse by running and leaping. However, there are times when you need to get to places much faster and that’s where the Ikran comes in.
The Ikran is almost a dragon/bird hybrid that will become your flying friend in the game. However, to acquire one will take some doing. With this guide, we’ll reveal all you need to know on how to get the Ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora so you know the steps to receiving this colourful mount.

How to get the Ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
So, to get your large blue hands on this flying beast, you will sadly have to progress through a solid portion of the game. This is due to the fact that the Ikran is tied to a story quest that isn’t exactly at the start of your adventure.
The quest you need to be aiming for is the aptly named ‘Take Flight’ which is the 11th main quest, tied to the Aranahe tribe. This one will take you to the Ikran Rookery where you’ll have the chance to tame your very own Ikran.
Getting to the top of the Rookery is no mean feat as it requires you to do some serious parkour and use your intuition to locate the correct path to follow. After you do get to the top, you will be in with the chance to tame the Ikran.
Once you go through the taming process, it will finally be yours to keep forever. At this point, you can customise the Ikran with colours and even give it a name, all adding to the immersion that this beast is truly yours.
From this point, you can go flying to your heart’s content, taking the Ikran on adventures through Pandora, even aiding you in battles against the RDA. You can even enhance your flying skills too by focusing on the Rider skill tree so keep that in mind when you have a few points to spend.
And there you have it, everything you need to know on the steps for getting the Ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. While you won’t be able to get the animal right away, exploring on foot is still fun and makes the flying that bit sweeter when you do unlock it.
