Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is finally out now and with that comes tonnes of new information. If you want to pick up the game for yourself, you'll want to know whether Star Wars Jedi Survivor is open world. We'll go over all the details you need.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor's gameplay preview at The Game Awards showcased a return to the famous Soulslike combat that many will recognize from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's Metroidvania-style level design drew mixed reviews. Some considered it a pleasant method to go through distinct worlds with Force skills they would earn, whereas others found it challenging to navigate one's way using BD-1's 3D holo map.
So, will Star Wars Jedi Survivor have an open world, or will it go back to being level-based? If you're hoping to jump into the game as soon as it is released, we also have a guide on the Jedi Survivor preload times.
Is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor open world?
The answer to the question is yes! Details about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gameplay have surfaced in the shape of an interview with the director, and it sounds like this is going to be a significant Star Wars trip with an even larger open world to explore.
More evidence regarding this can be seen in the trailer. Cal Kestis is gliding towards an open area in Survivor, clinging to a winged beast. It's uncertain if this is a new way of fast travel, or maybe these winged animals are perched in fixed areas and used to move to other sections of the map. However, this specific view does demonstrate that Cal is gliding into an area far greater in scale than players witnessed in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and this improvement alone would be wonderful for players to traverse tighter places more quickly.
The Game director Stig Asmussen revealed even more in the aforementioned interview. For starters, there are new travel mechanisms to incorporate into the mix, as well as a planet that is wholly unique to the Star Wars canon.
Asmussen stated: "It’s much of a wider Metroidvania approach. Cal can cross huge gaps by chaining several types of skills together. But it’s also about how we approach these mounts and how they’re used to negotiate and dominate the world."
If you're after more on the game, we also have details on how many planets there are in the game, whether it'll have multiplayer co-op features, and who is in the voice cast.
