The summer of 2023 brought about a major shake-up in the ranking system in League of Legends. The game developers decided to implement the Emerald tier, so even old players need some explanation on the League of Legends ranked distribution system.
Before the introduction of the new rank distribution in League of Legends, most players were in the Silver and Bronze tiers, but at the same time, those who were persistent enough could easily get into the Diamond tier. Thanks to Emerald, players were able to move up in rank, while only the strongest players could get into Diamond.

How League of Legends rank distribution works
In League of Legends, the rank distribution is divided into 10 tiers, each with a certain percentage of players. Additionally, seven tiers from Iron to Diamond have four more divisions. Here is a list of all tiers in League of Legends:
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Emerald
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
- Challenger
Also, League of Legends has two separate queues for solo play and teams. In terms of tiers, they do not differ, but they have different rewards and these are essentially two separate rankings that you can climb.
