Overheat

Enemies with flame weapons or fire-based attacks have the potential to cause Pinocchio to overheat if he is struck too many times by them. With Overheat active, you will take increased fire damage from additional attacks on top of receiving a continuous amount of passive fire damage.

This effect primarily impacts on Pinocchio's health, however you'll also be penalised with the amount of Guard Regain you receive from blocking attacks.

Electric Shock

As is the case with fire attacks, enemies that have electrically-charged weapons and attacks will cause electrical damage to Pinocchio. As with fire, the Electric Shock status effect will increase the amount of electric damage taken from additional attacks, plus some passive damage while the effect is active.

In addition to affecting P's health, the Electric Shock status effect will also impact on your Fable slots, which will increase the time it takes you to charge up your weapon's special abilities.

Decay

An acid-based status effect that is inflicted by infected enemies with acid attacks. The Decay effect will continuously impact on your weapon's durability and cause passive acid damage to Pinocchio. If this is active, ensure that you are frequently using the grindstone to repair your weapon.

Corruption

In contrast to the other status effects above, Corruption damage is actually caused by walking through tainted water. This is generally something that can't be avoided in particular parts of the game, but can be managed by finding spots nearby out of the water while the effect cools off.

If the Corruption meter fills, it will directly impact on Pinocchio's health, so be mindful so keep it from filling and have enough Pulse Cells on hand to heal any damage.

Disruption

Perhaps the most volatile of status effects, the Disruption effect will instantly kill you if the meter is filled. It is important to avoid attacks that inflict this damage or seek refuge until the effects wear off. If you can't do that, there is a way to instantly recover from status effect damage, which we will explain below.

Shock

Differing from Electric Shock, Shock damage occurs when Pinocchio is halted in his tracks. This is a particularly draining status effect that will leave you vulnerable to additional damage.

The Shock effect directly impacts on the speed of Pinocchio's stamina recovery, which means the availablity of attacks and dodging movements will be significantly reduced. Stamina is arugably the most important of P's statistics given the importance of dodging to survive in combat.

Break

The last, but certainly not the least important, status effect is Break. This one is particularly nasty as it effects how much of Pinocchio's health can be recovered by Pulse Cells. Read on below on how to remove the status effect in case you can do this before healing the puppet.

How to get rid of status effects in Lies of P

Fortunately, all status effects in Lies of P can be removed just by giving it some time. All of them are limited in how long they can impact Pinocchio, but sometimes the window of time they are active is all that is needed to have fatal repercussions. Luckily, there is an alternative way to remove them.

Among the plethora of collectables that you can pick up along your travels through Krat are two special elixirs that will instantly remove status effects. The first is the Attribute Purification Ampoule, which will remove Overheat, Electric Shock, Decay, and Corruption. For the others, there is the Special Purification Ampoule, which removes Shock, Break, and Disruption. With these on hand, you can immediately curb the consequences of these status effects, so it is wise to at least keep them in your bag for access.
