Like a Dragon 8 features a job system, akin to class systems in other RPGs, letting you switch from different playstyles making combat much more versatile as a result, letting you mix and match abilities in the process.
In this guide, we'll give you some, hopefully, good recommendations tailored to each character. So let's begin
Which jobs to use in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?
There are dozens of jobs to choose from in Like a Dragon 8, ranging from character-exclusive ones, to male-only and female-only jobs.
We'll give you what we think is the best job for each character and a couple more extra recommendations with our reasoning behind our decision.
On that note, if you have doubts about unlocking some of the jobs we mentioned, check out our complete guide of all jobs in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and how to unlock them, and might as well check out how to change jobs while you're at it.
Best jobs for Ichiban Kasuga
We believe Hero is your best pick. Kasuga has a total of three exclusive jobs in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, with Hero being the second he gets access to. It is a super well-rounded job with plenty of high-damaging attacks, magic spells that heal and buff allies and good stat growths across the board.
Ichiban's personality traits are tied to this job, buffing his spells as you level them up, so it's the go-to if you're on the fence about switching his job.
Other job recommendations for Ichiban include:
- Sujimancer: Fun factor alone makes this job worthwhile, the requirements to get it are vastly different to the rest on the list, but if you're up for sinking time into the Sujimon side-content the game offers, it's well worth your time. It specialises in magic attacks and status ailments with low physical damage.
- Breaker: It might be a bit linear only boasting blunt damage attacks, but if you're thinking of grinding a class to inherit abilities, this could do wonders for your build. Hangman Twists increases your and nearby allies' critical chance, so it's good to pair it with other high-damaging jobs like Kunoichi.
Best jobs for Kazuma Kiryu
To the surprise of no one, Dragon of Dojima is Kiryu's best job. Similar to Ichiban, this job gets insanely buffed by levelling up his awakening traits, granting him access to more base damage and even the ability to perform the iconic Heat actions. It boasts little MP growth but between your strong base damage and abilities like Dragon's Resurgence, you won't need much anyway.
Other recommendations include:
- Action Star: A super solid blunt damage class that gives you extra damage via status buffs, looking to dish out tons of it via critical hits. In particular, the Relentless Dragon's Dance ability is incredibly powerful, doubling the damage of your next physical attack.
Best jobs for Koichi Adachi
The lovable former detective Adachi is the closest thing to a tank unit in Like a Dragon 8, and we've gone for Samurai as his best job. His default Detective one has very little in terms of mobility but decent damage, however, Samurai is even stronger, having the best physical damage growth in the entire game.
On top of being one of the best blade users, area-of-effect attacks like Burning Arrow and Dreaming Arrow greatly increase their damage if you hit a successful prompt, which isn't hard to do consistently.
Other recommendations include:
- Desperado: If you don't mind sacrificing a bit of Adachi's durability for a class filled with tons of abilities that can work well under any circumstances, then go for Desperado. It features blunt, blade, and gun physical attacks on top of having some decent magic spells with tons of status ailments possibilities.
Best jobs for Nanba
Making his return from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you should let Nanba cook with the Chef job. Now hear us out, instead of hyper fixating on Nanba's magic growth, the Chef job lets him grow into a more versatile unit, especially if you grind his default Homeless Guy job for a bit and inherit some useful skills such as Stashed Bottle (pairs excellently with some Action Star abilities).
You'll gain a strong magic and physical damage user, becoming one of your most reliable units, especially if you want to deal with pesky hoards of enemies.
Other recommendations you should check out
- Host: Nanba's natural progression, with the Host job only trading a bit of physical defence for more damage compared to Nanba's default job. What sets them apart is the amazing wealth of spells you'll gain access to, including Rose Stinger, which can both burn and charm an enemy.
Best jobs for Chitose Fujinomiya
Not only Chitose's best job but the coolest in the entire game, Kunoichi is the way to go with her.
Excellent agility that will sometimes let her attack two times before an enemy does, her range of gun, blade, and spells will let her do some serious damage with excellent crowd control, try working a build that buffs her agility constantly so you can trigger extra hits on her Illusory Slash or Shadow Clone Jutsu abilities.
Other picks include:
- Geodancer: If you want to with a more magic-based route, then Geodancer could be a solid pick. More versatile than the super healing-focused Idol and slightly stronger than Housekeeper (also a good choice), the Geodancer has some very useful support spells like Ukelele Strum, which boosts the evasion and willpower (resistance to magic) of her and her allies.
- Night Queen: On the opposite side of things, if you want a more brute over finesse type of job, then let the Night Queen reign supreme. Boasts amazing physical attack but not any particular abilities that immediately stand out.
Best jobs for Eric Tomizawa
The trusty Tomizawa can easily handle the pressure of being a Pyrodancer despite his looks. It's a glasscannon type of job so you'll need to be careful and maybe give him gear to boost his defence and willpower.
The other side of the coin is that he's incredibly versatile, having blunt attacks that apply fire damage and useful spells such as Mask of Punishment, which deals damage to enemies each turn, or Ancient Panacea, which heals allies over time.
Other recommendations include:
- Breaker: If you want to inherit some of Tomizawa's default job magic skills, pair those with the Double Hatchet ability to potentially boost your magic attack.
Best jobs for Seonhee
The stoic leader of the Geomijul is finally playable, and we believe that similar to Chitose, Kunoichi is the way to go with her. It's very similar to her default job, except for the tradeoff which will see her gain more agility with Kunoichi at the expense of HP and attack.
Other
- Assassin: Her default job is just as perfect as she is. Focuses on high-damaging gun, blunt, and blade attacks with a couple of good area-of-effect magic spells that can apply status ailments like poison or blindness.
Best jobs for Saeko Mukoda
Saeko's all about magic, and we've picked the Housekeeper job for her, letting her exploit those great magic growths from her default Barmaid job.
Housekeeper is a more attacking-oriented magic job, with fire and ice spells in her repertoire. She also has a very unique ability that lets her steal cash from enemies.
Other recommended job:
- Idol: If you want what amounts to a dedicated healer in the game, then the Idol job is right there. There's nothing spectacular about it, tons of healing spells, and status ailments against enemies. It's not flashy but it can get the job done.
Best jobs for Tianyou Zhao
Zhao's default job is essentially a less reliable Samurai so you might want to go ahead and switch him to that one after you've collected some abilities.
The gist is the same, both jobs have low agility but high-damaging attacks, it's just that Samurai is more reliable at dishing it out with area-of-effect tools.
Our second pick is:
- Gangster: After you've grinded the Samurai job, consider switching back to his default setup to take advantage of some neat healing spells, such as Homecooked Dim Sum, which grants HP over time and resistance to status ailments.
Best jobs for Joongi Han
If you want to take advantage of Joongi's great agility consider sticking him on the Breaker job. It's a very straightforward job with all blunt damage abilities, barring a single one to buff your evasion.
Still, he'll hit like a truck and due to how speedy he is, he might get to do so twice before the enemies can even clock what's happening.
Our second recommendation is:
- Hitman: Stick with the basics, he's got great AoE tools and with the revamped gameplay in Infinite Wealth, you'll have an easier time lining up those gun abilities.
Of course this are just our recommendations, and there are tons more ways you can improve how each job works depending on your playstyle. For example, if you're running a lot of magic-based jobs, try crafting the Seal of Transfiguration, which allows their basic attacks to derive their damage from their magic stat rather than the attack one
