If you're looking to cause chaos and leave your enemies in the dust, Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death, is the ideal character for you in Marvel Rivals.
Thanks to her potent ranged attacks, crowd control abilities, and quick repositioning, Hela can shift the tide of the game when played well.
This article is your go-to guide for mastering Hela and using her abilities to wreck your opponents in Marvel Rivals.
How To Play as Hela
In Marvel Rivals, Hela means serious business.
She's got wicked ranged attacks, a devastating ultimate, and exceptional mobility that can tear up the battlefield.
But mastering Hela isn’t just about spamming abilities.
To truly bring her out, it’s all about precision, strategy, and perfect positioning, thanks to her high skill ceiling.
Here’s how to play Hela and unleash her full potential:
1. Make Every Shot Count with Hela
Hela's Nightsword Thorn is a slow but high-damage projectile that demands exceptional accuracy.
The small magazine and low rate of fire make every shot essential.
Although her base attack has strong damage potential, it's best to take your time and target enemies from a distance.
Her Piercing Night ability boosts her ranged combat, sending out thorns that explode after a little while.
This ability makes pressure zones great for taking down fast or fragile enemies.
Piercing Night with Nightsword Thorn allows Hela to maintain prolonged damage output.
This works great for taking out weakened targets without getting too close.
2. Use Astral Flock to Stay Unpredictable
One of Hela’s key advantages is her mobility, thanks to Astral Flock.
With this power, she can turn into a crow and glide away or find a better spot on the battlefield.
The trick is to use Astral Flock smartly—whether dodging danger or positioning yourself for an easier shot.
You’re stuck going one way during the transformation, but Astral Flock makes you invincible for a while.
After you move to a new spot, just use Hel’s Descent to slowly float down from higher ground so you can land exactly where you want.
This combination makes Hela all over the place, so enemies can’t get a good shot at her.
3. Soul Drainer Lets You Call the Shots
Soul Drainer is Hela's way of keeping enemies in check, releasing a powerful burst that incapacitates enemies in a small radius for a short time.
This skill is a game-changer when dealing with groups or isolating important targets.
Once you stun an enemy, you can swiftly follow up with Nightsword Thorn or Piercing Night for a quick takedown.
When swarmed, use Soul Drainer to shut them down and go for the weakest ones first.
Not to mention, Nastrond Crowstorm, Hela’s passive, creates additional area damage when you eliminate an enemy.
This makes sure the pressure doesn’t let up.
4. Wipe Out the Enemies with the Goddess of Death
Hela’s ultimate, Goddess of Death, lets her fly up and send out a wave of Nastrond Crows that hit everything in sight with massive damage.
The damage is huge, but the downside is Hela being stuck in one spot when she’s airborne.
To get the best out of this, use Astral Flock to take the high ground before activating the Goddess of Death.
This positioning reduces the chances of being hit by enemy fire and increases your control over the battlefield.
Don't forget to check your surroundings when using this ability.
Wait until you're in a safe spot to use it. If you're caught in a bad position, Hela could be shot down quickly.
If you use it correctly, Goddess of Death can wipe out the enemy team, making it one of her best moves.
5. Don’t Get Trapped, Stay on the Move
Since Hela's health is low, she must be smart about where she stands to avoid fast, aggressive enemies.
She thrives in mid-range combat, using her strong ranged abilities to dictate the pace of the battle without jumping into the thick of it.
Astral Flock is key to repositioning, letting her escape, or finding a better vantage point.
Watch what's around you, and don’t stretch yourself too thin. Hela thrives by dishing out steady damage while staying out of danger.
Make sure you're using Soul Drainer on the tough enemies and have a backup plan just in case.
When dealing with speedy enemies like Spider-Man or Venom, stun them with Soul Drainer and then use Astral Flock to reposition so you don’t get swarmed.
