June 10, 2024: We've updated this page to include more Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater details from the latest trailer shown at the Xbox Games Showcase.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, released in 2004. The remake will follow Snake on a journey both familiar and new.

Without the vision of game director Hideo Kojima, developer Konami has a lot of responsibility to deliver a product worthy of sporting the MGS brand, let alone being a remake of one of the best and most revered games in the series.

Having said that, let's give you everything you need to know about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, including a possible release date, platforms, and more.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Reveal

Our first look at the remake was during the Xbox Partner Showcase reveal in May 2023. Here, we got to see what the game would look like running in the Unreal 5 Engine. While technically impressive, it didn't reveal too much of what to expect.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Release Date Estimate

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater still does not have a release date. Even more concerning is that, with the latest reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Games Fest, no year was indicated for the game's release.

This could mean a number of things, but we have a sneaky suspicion that it means fans of the spy and espionage series will have to wait until 2025 to get their hands on the remake.

We'll update this article if more information is revealed in the coming months, but as it stands, we don't expect the title to be released this year.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Platforms

Meta Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released only for current-gen consoles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

One of the main reasons is that the game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5, making it the first MGS title since Kojima Productions' dissolution to not use the publisher's proprietary Fox Engine technology.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Trailer

At the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Konami showcased a brand new trailer that highlighted Snake's ongoing journey throughout Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Here, we got to see Snake's innovative ways of camouflaging into his surroundings via rolling around in what we hope is mud, swimming through bodies of water in dingy caverns, and even donning a crocodile helmet. Because who says you can't be fashionable while going on life-or-death missions?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Gameplay

The original game is well known for its practical gameplay that actively worked on making Snake feel like a survivalist and espionage expert. For one thing, you would need to take advantage of your surroundings and camouflage ahead of time, and even prepare food so you wouldn't be affected negatively.

In the trailer shown at Summer Games Fest 2024, it doesn't look as though this has changed too much, with clips showing Snake using his environment to sneak up on enemies.

There was also a clip of Snake healing himself, leading us to believe that the injuries he gains throughout the game will have a lasting impact, just like the original.
