Popularity is a unique stat in Metaphor: Refantazio's. It reflects your character's standing and public approval in the social and political landscape. Just as in reality, being well-liked or respected by others can open doors, provide benefits, and shape outcomes.
In other words, the more popular you are, the faster you'll advance in the game. This article will share tips to help you boost your popularity and enhance your gameplay experience.
How To Increase Popularity in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Popularity reflects how well the people of Euchronia perceive the protagonist.
This mechanic impacts both story progression and gameplay outcomes. Higher popularity can unlock new dialogue options, facilitate alliances, and open unique paths during major events like debates or tournaments.
For example, the contender with the most popularity in the Royal Tournament is more likely to become king. Progressing through the main storyline naturally increases your popularity, but this alone will not be enough to put you at the top.
You will need to take on additional side quests scattered throughout cities and villages. If you see NPCs with exclamation points, they probably have quests lined up. Time management is equally important since some quests are time-sensitive.
Some NPCs only appear at specific times, so exploring during daytime and nighttime will increase your odds of finding new tasks. Bounties also give a considerable lift to your popularity.
These are unlocked as you travel through new areas and defeat strong enemies. Completing bounties increases your reputation and rewards you with Reeve and other resources.
You can also elevate your Royal Virtues, such as Courage or Eloquence, to unlock special tasks that reflect your character's growth. These tasks don’t directly impact your popularity but open the door to challenges that impress the citizens and help you earn more recognition.
For example, completing a high-courage task or excelling in a debate tied to Eloquence boosts how people view you. Like in real life, it enhances your popularity by flaunting what you can do to the people.
Coronation Rocks scattered throughout major cities reflect how well you are progressing in the popularity rankings. Although collecting MAG doesn’t increase your popularity, the amount available reflects your reputation.
The MAG collected can be used to unlock new Archetypes and skills or exchanged for reeve through merchants. The more MAG you collect, the clearer it becomes that your popularity is rising.
