You can craft all types of decorated pots by following this recipe, but you need to use different ingredients to make specific variants. There are five elements that you can combine to make a unique pot. Here is the list of them:

  • Brick - Adds no images on your pot.
  • Archer Pottery Shard - Adds an image of a bow on your pot.
  • Skull Pottery Shard - Adds an image of a skull on your pot.
  • Prize Pottery Shard - Adds an image of a diamond on your pot.
  • Arms Up Pottery Shard - Adds an image of a human with raised arms on your pot.

Your pot has four sides, and the pictures on them depend on the ingredients you use for crafting. For example, if you want to make a pot with only one image on a certain side, then you should use three Bricks and one Pottery Shard.

How to get pottery shards in Minecraft

The new Minecraft version, 1.20, introduces an archeology mechanic. This allows you to discover new items. You can do it with the help of the Brush that you can craft by combining a Stick, a Feather, and a Copper Ingot. After that, head to the Desert biome and search for Desert Temples or Desert Wells.

While exploring these structures, you can find Suspicious Sand blocks that look different from the standard ones. You will have to use your Brush on these blocks to get a treasure. It can be anything, but you need Pottery Shards. With this update, you can search for shards from ancient civilisations just like a true archaeologist!

How to get bricks in Minecraft

Bricks are a little bit different, as they can’t be obtained like Pottery Shards. Instead, you need to go to a lush cave or another wet place. There you should search for Clay Blocks and break a couple of them. You will get Clay Balls, which then can be smelted into Bricks. Just put them in a furnace and wait for a few seconds.

Decorated pots will be a nice addition to your house in Minecraft, if you want to make something with an archeological or ancient vibe. Prepare your Brush and start your first excavation!
