The Modern Warfare 2 ranked reset is right around the corner. As part of the Season 3 update, you'll notice a slight difference in your skill division when dropping into the action once the new update has gone live.
In addition to the standard seasonal ranks, Modern Warfare 2's competitive mode comes with its own set of divisions to determine your skill and alongside the Intervention sniper rifle and a brand-new Battle Pass packed with new content to earn.
But, before we take a closer look at the MW2 ranked reset, check out our guides showcasing the best ranked play loadouts and intel on when the next double XP event takes place.
When is the Modern Warfare 2 ranked reset?
The first MW2 ranked reset takes place on April 12 when Season Three launches. This means your current rank will change to a lower one which is far from ideal if you've spent all of your time solo-queuing to reach Crimson.
Rather than you getting stuck in one division for an entire season, the intentional demotion is a surefire way of guaranteeing the grind doesn't stop.
How does the Modern Warfare 2 ranked reset work?
At the start of every season, your skill division will move back a notch with the rank earned at the end of Season Two acting as the baseline. Here's the complete breakdown of resets:
- Bronze -> Bronze 1
- Silver -> Bronze
- Gold -> Silver
- Platinum -> Gold
- Diamond -> Platinum
- Crimson -> Diamond
- Iridescent -> Diamond 1
- Top 250 -> Diamond 1
So, if you're in the top 250 players gunning for the top spot, you'll have to climb through the Iridescent division once more. Although some might find it frustrating, it means the race for the top spot always remains interesting.
Along with the rank reset, you'll also receive a three-match dose of demotion protection so you've got a chance to build some SR before receiving loss penalties.
