What is the best Modern Warfare 3 Gutter Knife loadout?
We can't wait for Modern Warfare 3 to release so we can start experimenting with Gutter Knife loadouts. We'll likely see this close-range melee weapon perform best with an MCW rifle or Renetti pistol, as it's dangerous to rush an enemy while holding a knife. Melee users would also do well to stay quiet, so should stay away from LMGs and grenade launchers.
Shotguns would also be somewhat redundant for melee users, as there's very little reason to whip out a knife when the Haymaker can secure kills faster at close range. We'll be sure to update this guide with the latest intel in future, however.
Best Modern Warfare 3 Gutter Knife perks and equipment
The guns you bring alongside the Gutter Knife will certainly help score kills. If you're looking to consistently get kills with your knife, though, you'll need good perks and equipment that's suited to melee kills. Luckily, we've found some great combinations and listed them below.
Perks
- Vest: Infantry
- Gloves: Quick-grip or Ordnance
- Boots: Covert sneakers
- Gear: Blacklight flashlight
In the vest slot, you should bring the infantry perk. This perk increases your tactical sprint length and recharges it sooner, letting you make a mad dash all over the map for close-up kills.
Gloves should have their slot filled by the quick-grip or ordnance perks. Quick-grip speeds up your weapon swapping which you'll be doing often for kills at range, while ordnance makes your equipment throwing more effective. This is especially important as a melee player, as your equipment can set up opportunities for kills.
For your footwear, your boots slot should be filled with covert sneakers. They make your footsteps silent, letting you get in the perfect position for a stealth kill without raising suspicion.
Finally, you'll want the blacklight flashlight in your gear perk slot, as it shows recent enemy footsteps; this will help you track down targets for easy pickings. Similarly, the ghost t/v camo will keep you out of enemies' tracking devices so you can approach stealthily.
Equipment
- Lethal: Frag grenade
- Tactical: Flash grenade
As a melee user, getting enemies out of their hiding spots is important. This makes the frag grenade the best solid choice for your lethal slot - throwing it into a room will quickly see anyone inside run out, ready to be stunned by your flash grenade and stabbed by your trusty knife.
Your tactical slot is best filled by the flash grenade. Rushing an enemy will usually get you killed, so disorienting them is a sure-fire way to get close without any trouble.
Is the Modern Warfare 3 Gutter Knife meta?
The meta is a tricky thing to predict and constantly changing. Melee weapons are rarely seen in players' hands thanks to their short ranges and high-risk-low-reward playstyles. Still, the game isn't out yet, and we may see melee rise as the preferred way to play if the guns end up being underwhelming.
