Trying to find the best PILA loadout in Modern Warfare 3? In this guide, we'll be breaking down all be best attachments and perks to equip with the PILA. Also, we'll be passing our judgment on whether the PILA will have a chance to break into the game's meta.
The PILA is a guided surface-to-air rocket launcher, carrying only a couple of rockets. Taking up your primary weapon slot, you'll need a decent secondary weapon to negate the fact that you can't engage opponents in gunfights.
Before we take a look at the best PILA loadout, check out our guide on the optimal Modern Warfare 3 graphics settings or our walkthrough on the PC system requirements for Modern Warfare 3. You can find these and many more guides in our dedicated Modern Warfare 3 walkthrough hub.
What is the best Modern Warfare 3 PILA loadout?
In Modern Warfare 2, the PILA wasn't able to be modified, so your loadout entirely depends on the secondary weapon you chose to bring. This remains the case in Modern Warfare 3, as you cannot alter the PILA in any way. Instead, you'll be focussing on your secondary weapon and equipment to optimise your PILA loadout.
We’ll be updating this guide with our thoughts on the best loadout for the PILA when we've had a chance to play Modern Warfare 3 and experiment with some of the game's secondary weapons. Make sure to check back here after the game's full release to get our complete thoughts on the PILA.
Best Modern Warfare 3 PILA attachments
By using the Gunsmith, players can significantly alter how their gun behaves and looks. However, this doesn't apply to the PILA; as mentioned before, the PILA cannot be modified at the Gunsmith, so if you want to use this launcher, you'll have to take it at face value.
If the status of the PILA's attachments changes at all, we'll be updating this section with the top attachments for the PILA launcher.
Best Modern Warfare 3 PILA perks and equipment
Below, we’ve got the best perks and equipment to help you get the most out of the PILA in Modern Warfare 3.
Perks
- Vest: Overkill
- Gloves: Scavenger
- Boots: Covert Sneakers
- Gear: Bone Conduction Headset
Equipping the overkill vest with the PILA will greatly improve your mobility, by increasing your weapon swap speed so you can whip out your secondary, as well as enabling you to reload while sprinting. Additionally, the scavenger gloves will allow you to collect more ammunition from fallen enemies, in order to replenish your incredibly limited ammo stores to capacity.
Meanwhile, the covert sneakers will allow you to run around the map silently, which will help you get an advantage over unsuspecting enemies. Pairing these boots with the Bone Conduction Headset will give you the best possible audio experience in Modern Warfare 3, letting you hear your opponents more clearly.
Equipment
- Lethal: Frag Grenade
- Tactical: Flash Grenade
Whilst all of the lethal types of equipment can be used to great effect, we feel that the frag grenade offers the most versatile, yet easy-to-use, option. You'll be able to master the timing and the range of your frag grenade throws with a bit of practice, allowing you to reliably dispatch enemies at a variety of ranges.
Meanwhile, for your tactical equipment, flashes are a dynamic and classic piece of utility to bring along. You can use these to ambush enemies, to line them up in your PILA's sights as they run around blindly.
Is the Modern Warfare 3 PILA meta?
It's safe to say that the PILA won't become a meta pick any time soon. The weapon simply isn't a viable weapon to compete against more traditional loadouts. Explosive rockets have their place in Modern Warfare 3, but it's not going to be at the top of the competitive food chain. Instead, why not opt for an assault rifle or a submachine gun?
That’s all there is to know about the PILA and its best loadout.
