Five months after its release, Monster Hunter Wilds is becoming increasingly harder and grindier, thanks to fan feedback and Capcom’s continued support. With even more difficult content on the way, including the powerful Arch-Tempered Uth Duna and possibly the return of Gogmazios, things are only going to get crazier in the upcoming updates.
However, many players are also struggling to farm Small and Large Gold Crowns. Here’s how to effectively search for Gold Crowns in Monster Hunter Wilds:
Join Populated Lobbies
Joining populated lobbies increases your chances of finding players who are grinding for the same thing.
Large and Small Gold Crowns are a common goal in Monster Hunter Wilds’ endgame, and often, you can stumble upon them just by joining a random quest from the lobby.
If you want to expand your search, try chatting with players on the server to see if they’re crown farming too. You can also narrow your search by filtering for the specific monster you're hunting. Tempered monsters tend to have a higher chance of being Large Gold Crowns, while standard monsters are more likely to be Small Gold Crowns.
Find Suspicious Investigation Quests
Another clear sign that someone is farming Gold Crowns is by checking SOS quests at the Quest Board and spotting unusual patterns that seem too convenient.
For example, why would a Hunter with HR 500 be hunting a regular Chatacabra in the Wounded Hollow? There’s a good chance they’re targeting a Gold Crown monster, and you’d be lucky to join before the session fills up.
Also, look at the quest rewards. Nobody hunts Basarios on a quest that doesn’t offer Ancient Parts or Gems, unless there’s something else in it for them. If you see a quest with multiple HR 500+ players and low-tier rewards, odds are high that there’s a guaranteed Gold Crown involved.
Join Monster Hunter Discord Channels
The easiest and most effective way to farm Gold Crowns is to join Monster Hunter Discord communities.
They’re easy to find, and the players are usually very welcoming. These channels often have dedicated servers for Crown Hunting. You can request a specific Gold Crown, or do “Gold Crown Trading,” which works exactly as it sounds: you trade saved investigations with Gold Crown monsters in exchange for others.
Gold Crown farming has been a long-standing grind in the series, especially after Monster Hunter: World made it more popular. Now, that grind continues in Wilds, made even more efficient thanks to the addition of Binoculars, which let you see if a monster is a Gold Crown before committing to the hunt. Just save those quests as Investigations and bring others along to help secure the crown.
