As we inch closer to the release of Mortal Kombat 1, speculation increases on how this entry will be different from its predecessors. One such change players are anticipating is the ability to perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 1.
The Mercy feature was introduced in later instalments and allowed players to truly disrespect their opponents even further. If a Fatality wasn't enough, you could rub salt in the wound by performing a Mercy and taking them down again. So, let's see if the Mercy system is back in Mortal Kombat 1.

What is the Mercy feature in Mortal Kombat 1?
In Mortal Kombat, the Mercy feature offers a chance for a player to grant their opponent a brief reprieve at the end of a match, giving them a second chance to fight back. During the "Finish Him/Her" phase, instead of performing a finishing move, a player can activate Mercy, restoring a small portion of the opponent's health.
This mechanic adds a thrilling layer of unpredictability and is intended to be a show of sportsmanship. However, it's usually used for showboating and gloating about superiority. If the player who granted Mercy wins, they can still execute a Fatality or other finishing moves at the end, potentially adding insult to injury. It's a bold, daring move that can make matches more exciting and engaging for both players and spectators.
How to do Mercy in Mortal Kombat 1
As it stands, Mercy doesn't appear to be in Mortal Kombat 1 so far. There's no clear way to perform a Mercy on your downed opponent at the end of fight, so it seems unlikely to be a feature this time around.
Of course, Mercy could be added later down the line, but as of right now you'll have to do without it in Mortal Kombat 1.
