Palworld is full of amazing creatures to find in its vast open world. However, it can be incredibly dangerous as well when you're ill-equipped to face these powerful Pals. It's important to get a good start early and get some Pals that can help you with the early game. Today, we'll take a look at the best starter Pals in Palworld.

At the start, your chances of capturing stronger Pals will be limited, and you'll have to make do with lower-level Pals. However, don't let levels fool you, as the utility and abilities of the Pals on our list put them a rank above the rest. Whether you want damage or mobility, these starter Pals can carry you well into the midgame!

While you're here, be sure to learn how to catch Pals as well as the advanced tips on how to increase capture chance.

Best Starter Pals in Palword

Foxsparks

We give Foxsparks the title of the best starter Pal in Palworld for two reasons. The first reason is that it's a fire type with good stats, and the first gear ability you can unlock turns Foxsparks into a flamethrower.

In flamethrower mode, Foxsparks can cause some serious hurt and burn on anyone who doesn't out-level you way too much. The second reason is that this little fox is adorable and one of the only early-game Pals that can perform the Kindling job.

Daedream

As soon as you have the option to capture Daedream you should do it. Daedream will probably be a mainstay for most people's teams in Palworld. This is because its gear allows Daedream to be alongside you at all times while it's in your Party, even if you call upon another Pal.

Daedream will attack alongside you and provide a significant DPS boost to your Party. Daedream only comes out at night, so be sure to capture one when you get the chance. Don't forget to craft its special gear too.

Hoocrates

Next up, we have Hoocrates. Hoocrates is a Dark-type Owl Pal that usually only comes out at night, although you can find some roaming around in the early morning. What makes Hoocrates special is its early access to the Dark Ball ability, which is one of the most powerful regular skills during the early game.

Direhoul

You will run into Direhoul at level 11 as you're progressing in Palword. These ruthless wolves hunt in packs and are found alongside the mountain regions. Direhoul is a pretty strong Pal with good attacks, but the real appeal comes from its gear skill.

Direhoul is one of the first Pals you can ride, and unlike the other early-game options, it's quite fast. You'll get a lot more traversal done with a Direhoul by your side.

Nitewing

Nitewing has a similar role as Direwolf on this list, as it's the first Flying Pal you can capture and then use to fly. Flying opens up a whole new dimension of travel and exploration that you're going to need once you start going to the more rocky vertical regions near the centre of the island. It'll take you until level 17, but it's worth the investment.
