Atlus has released tactical RPG spin-off Persona 5 Tactica and it’s not a typical game in the series. The new battle system requires a lot of thought and patience, which is why we’ll give fans some beginner’s tips and tricks for Persona 5 Tactica.

Now, when playing the game, fans will realize that Tactica is a pretty easy tactical RPG overall, but it can be easy to forget certain tips the game teaches you. Because of that, we’re here to offer fans a couple of basic pointers before, or even after, they step foot into these fictional Kingdoms.

So, without any further ado, here are a couple of beginner’s tips and tricks for Persona 5 Tactica. For similar guides, check out how to level up and equip gear in Super Mario RPG.

Hide behind cover

One important aspect of Persona 5 Tactica is always making sure your character is behind cover when their turn ends. This is displayed with either a red or yellow, with the red one preventing you from taking any damage and the yellow one letting you take a bit.

Whatever the shield color, players need to get behind some cover. If one of the player characters isn’t taking cover, they become vulnerable to a “One More,” this game’s version of the Baton Pass from Persona 5. Should a player get hit by a “One More,” they will take more damage and the enemy gets one more turn.

Try to go for a “One More”

Speaking of “One More,” trying to get these consistently in Persona 5 Tactica is the ultimate beginner’s tip and trick. Anytime you see a vulnerable enemy, meaning anyone not in cover and looking like they’re scared for their life, hit them with your gun, spell, or melee attack to get “One More.” This means you can opt to finish that enemy off or have your characters form a triangle and get a Triple Threat/All-Out Attack.

There will be times when no enemies are vulnerable, which means sacrificing a character’s turn so someone else can do a “One More.” It’s a key part of the game’s tactics, so make sure a heavy hitter like Makoto or Haru makes an enemy vulnerable. This way, characters with more movement like Yusuke or Morgana can take more steps, get more “One More” turns, and deal out maximum damage.

Always try to nail a Triple Threat/All-Out Attack

We mentioned this above, but hitting a vulnerable enemy and getting a “One More” is crucial to getting a Triple Threat attack. Not only does it feel good to hit this move, but this means killing a good majority of foes, which is useful since some objectives require killing all enemies after a certain amount of turns.

As we mentioned earlier, hit a vulnerable enemy and have your three-man party form a triangle. Once the triangle is red and your party members are in a safe place, the character who hit the vulnerable enemy can initiate the Triple Threat. This only ends one character’s turn, so the other two are free to hide in cover or initiate more Triple Threat attacks.

Use Erina’s “Charge” ability

Erina is a pretty important character in Persona 5 Tactica and someone who can do quite a bit of damage on the battlefield. However, her most useful skill is her “Charge” ability, which has her gun blast enemies and instantly gives Erina a “One More.”

To use a “Charge” ability, simply have that character skip their turn. Luckily, there’s a neat little loophole here, as the ability can still “Charge” after a “One More.” Whatever the case, have Erina skip an action so that she can blast enemies and get a “One More” on her next turn.

And those are our Persona 5 Tactica beginner’s tips and tricks. Some of these tactics might sound difficult, but they become fairly easy to pull off once you get into the game’s groove.
