Some Pokemon have convoluted evolutions, and can only be found in certain locations in Paldea. One of these is the teacup Sinistea, so let's see how to get Sinistea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and evolve it into a Polteageist in both forms.
Introduced in Generation 8 in Galar, Sinistea became an immediate favourite due to its cute and unique design, and Ghost-type abilities. Sinistea is shaped like a teacup, with a purple spirit living inside it. It evolves into Polteageist, where the spirit has a whole teapot instead of just a cup.

How to get Sinistea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Sinistea is found in one area of Paldea, and one area only. To find it, you'll need to head to the South Province, Area Six, around Alfornada. This is located at the bottom left of the map and can be accessed by the brown path leading from the beach through the caves.
The Sinisteas in the overworld are very small and can be quite hard to see given Scarlet and Violet's performance troubles. Polteageists do not spawn in the overworld either and must be evolved in order to add them to your Dex.
Does Sinistea evolve in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Cracked Pot and Chipped Pot locations
To evolve the Sinistea you have, you'll need to get the Chipped or Cracked Pot items. These appear at the Auction House in Porto Marinada, which is unlocked during the story of Scarlet and Violet. The items won't be available from the start and may take a while to show up in the stock of the Auction.
There is, actually, a Cracked Pot in the overworld. We've tested it, and found the item. It is located above Casseroya Lake, on the Socarrat Trail:
Sinistea and Polteageist come in two forms. One is much rarer than the other. The two forms are separated only by a stamp of authenticity on the underside of the Pokemon's cup. The Sinistea with the stamp is the Authentic form, and without, is a Phony form.
The two forms require different items to evolve into Polteageist: an Authentic Sinistea requires the Chipped Pot, whereas the Phony needs a Cracked Pot. Once you have either one, simply give it to your Sinistea as a Held Item, and it should evolve instantly.
