A Pokemon trainer with Sprigatito

Let's take a closer look at the Grass-type starter of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. One question about the grass cat lingers over all: what level does Sprigatito evolve? It's a key detail you'll want to know soon after you depart on your great Paldean adventure. Your starter is often the strongest creature on your squad, and it only gets more powerful as it grows.

Each Pokémon generation gives us a choice of three starters: a Water-type, a Fire-type, and a Grass-type. The Generation 9 games, Scarlet and Violet, are no different. We were introduced to Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly a while ago, and since then they've been shown off in trailers, and promotional images. Now, we're sifting through leaks as to their evolutions and what moves they have for us to use in battle.

While we eagerly await Generation 9's arrival, check out our full Pokédex list of officially spotted Pokémon right here, and where you can pre-order Pokémon Scarlet and Violet ahead of release.

What level does Sprigatito evolve in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

The three starters of each generation never need specific criteria or items that they need to meet to evolve, except for reaching higher levels twice.

New leaks have confirmed that Sprigatito will evolve into its middle evolution at level 16, and then into the final form Meowscarada at level 36.

Previous generations' starters always evolve at either level 15, 16, or 17, and then again to their final evolution at levels 34, 35, or 36.

What does Sprigatito evolve into?

Sprigatito

The Grass Cat Pokemon is the Grass-Type starter found in Scarlet and Violet. It's number one in the Paldean 'dex, and likely to be the number one favourite of a lot of fans too. Sprigatito has the Overgrow ability, which seriously buffs Grass-type moves when a Pokémon's health drops to a third or below of its total.

Floragato

Floragato, the middle evolution of the Grass starter line, hasn't been officially revealed yet - but a picture of its Pokédex entry has appeared online. What we know about it so far is that it becomes bipedal, and uses a yo-yo item in battle.

Its Pokédex entry states:

The hardness of Floragato's fur depends on the Pokémon's mood. When Floragato is prepared to battle, it's ur becomes pointed and needle sharp.

Meowscarada

The third and final 'Mon in the Sprigatito line is Meowscarada - the Magician Pokémon. Like Floragato, it is bipedal but has become much taller than its predecessor. Meowscarada gains a dual type as it evolves, becoming a Grass/Dark typing.
