Rejoice, bug-type fans, there are plenty of insectoid critters roaming the Paldea region for us to find. So, when does Tarountula evolve into Spidops in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Let's find out.
Tarountula is a new Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, Generation 9 of the mainline Pokémon games. It is a spider with a body made of a ball of yarn, with incredibly strong string secretions. Its natural enemy is Scyther. Both Tarountula and its evolution are pure Bug-type Pokémon.
If you didn't pre-order Generation 9, you can still get Pokemon Scarlet and Violet right here. We've also got a look at how to get our previous games' favourite starters Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Scorbunny in the new generation, and all the Rotom phone cases available.
When does Tarountula evolve in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
Thankfully, Tarountula is super easy to evolve in Scarlet and Violet. Tarountula evolves to Spidops at level 15, so it won't take long to evolve at all. It's a bit of a tradition these days for early Bug-type Pokemon to evolve at a low level, and this one is no different.

Tarountula is found in the early areas of the game and is easy to catch, and you can find wild Spidops to catch, too - these appear in the South Province, West Province, and around the Tagtree Thicket. Both Pokémon appear at any time of day and will be found in forests over any other biome.
Is Spidops good?
Tarountula and Spidops have the same type of weaknesses; they are weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock moves. This may make them hard to use in battles against Nemona if you didn't choose Fuecoco as your starter. However, they are resistant to Grass types - so if your opponent has Sprigatito, get yourself a Spidops!
Spidops boasts a high defence stat and special defence, making it a good Pokémon to use while attempting to catch others, as it can take the hits while you try and throw balls at the enemy.
The spidery Pokémon also have the Insomnia ability, and therefore cannot fall asleep during battle. Their hidden ability, Stakeout, is another helpful tool as it will double the damage dealt when they switch into battle.
Paldea is now open to us to catch all the new 'Mons, so why not check out our evolution guides? Here is how to evolve Smoliv, how to evolve Bisharp, how to evolve Finizen, and how to evolve Dunsparce after many years of waiting.
