How does the inventory system work in Resident Evil 4 remake?
The original Resident Evil 4 is known for its cool inventory system. It looks like an attache case that your character constantly opens and uses to keep various items. So, its visual design is simple and stylish, and most Resident Evil 4 fans love it. You had to balance your case's capacity by rotating items to reduce the amount of blocks used up.
Now we've played the game, we can confirm that the remake keeps the original inventory design. Your character still wields an attache case where you can keep your weapons, healing items, ammo, and other useful things.
When you open your inventory, you see lots of squares that fill the attache case’s space like a grid. All items in this game occupy a certain amount of these squares. For example, a shotgun requires more space than a box of pistol ammo. You can put all of these items horizontally or vertically, and sometimes the inventory management in this game may remind you of Tetris.
What inventory tabs are available in Resident Evil 4 remake?
There are five different tabs of the Resident Evil 4 inventory. Here is the list of them:
Items tab
This is the simplest one. It opens the attache-like inventory we’ve already covered in this guide.
Treasures tab
Opens a tab with treasures. You can find these items in various secret areas, and some of them can be combined into more valuable treasures. For example, if you get a grail with a few special sockets then you should try to put some gems in them. After that, you will be able to sell such a treasure for a higher price.
Keys tab
In this tab, you will be able to look at all the keys you’ve found during your playthrough. These are special quest items that help you to open certain doors and access various areas, but they don't take up storage space. Once used and no longer required, you can sell them to the Merchant.
Craft tab
This is the new feature. Resident Evil 4 remake allows players to craft ammunition and more. The original game gives you an opportunity to craft only healing items by mixing various herbs, which makes a return here, alongside the ability to make yourself new ammo.
Documents tab
This is the last tab in your inventory, where you will find various files and documents. These are the things that can tell you about the game’s lore, plot, and other pickups you'll get across the world.
As you can see, Resident Evil 4 remake has the old inventory system with a couple of new features. The original inventory makes the game more immersive and atmospheric, and we are happy to see that it wasn’t changed in the remake!
