Resident Evil 4 remake Saddler boss guide
As in the original game, the Saddler boss fight comes at the very end of the Resident Evil 4 remake. Trapped on a top-floor scaffold with no means of escape, Leon's only choice is to fight him and take him down for good. Fortunately, he has the help of Ada Wong along the way.
It takes place on a circuit going around a big hole in the ground, meaning you'll need to constantly keep moving as Saddler chases you down with his minions in tow. Fortunately, in true Resident Evil fashion, he has glowing eyes across his torso, legs, and mouth that denote where you need to aim.
Your task will be to whittle down his six eyes at any given time, which then allows you to stab him in his main eye to deal damage. You'll need to repeat this a good few times to trigger the second stage of the fight, which still is all about shooting eyes, but is in an enclosed space where you can't move much.
The tips below should help you take down Saddler a bit more easily:
Aim for the eyes
Saddler has a number of different vulnerable spots, which manifest as huge, mutant eyes on his body. These will appear on his legs, inside his mouth, and on his torso. If you shoot these, he will enter a stunned state. When this happens, run up to him and press the prompt in order to climb onto him and stab his main eyeball.
These eyes blink very quickly, so use a fast-firing weapon such as a Shotgun or a TMP to guarantee you get the shot. If you’re not feeling particularly brave, you can fire at his main eyeball with a powerful weapon from afar, rather than using the climb mechanic to stay close to him.
Shoot the explosive barrels
There will be a number of red explosive barrels in the arena where you fight Saddler. If you shoot them when he is next to them, he will take damage and be momentarily stunned.
You can use Hand Grenades or Mines against Saddler to stagger him as well. Be careful though, because his eyes are immune to damage from Incendiary and Flash Grenades! Instead, it's just a good way to throw him off balance and buy yourself some time to ready your next shot.
The final hit
You’ll trigger a cutscene once you’ve dealt enough damage to Saddler. He'll wrap you up in his mutated tendrils, where you need to then deal a bit more damage to his remaining eyes. This is on a short time limit, before the final scene triggers.
Ada will arrive, and throw over a special rocket launcher to Leon. If you manage to hit Saddler with this, then it will kill him instantly. However, if you miss, then Saddler will take the opportunity to kill Leon. Make sure you land it first time!
That's it for the Osmund Saddler boss fight! Once you've beaten him, you'll be able to escape the island and bring Ashley Graham back to safety. Good luck, and don't forget to keep dodging his attacks!
