Did you finish the Spider-Man 2 campaign and are wondering who is Cindy Moon? Don't worry, we got you covered. It goes without saying that this article dives deep into the story and is heavy on spoilers, but if you're already here, you're likely aware of that.
Finishing the main story of Spider-Man 2 doesn't take as much time as other AAA open-world titles, despite that, it packs a punch with plenty of twists and turns along the way, including a few post-credits scenes.
The final one has a couple of new characters introduced into the Insomniac's Spider-Man universe. They're deep cuts, even for those more acquainted with Spidey's lore, so don't be too surprised if you don't know who is Cindy Moon. Let's find out.
Cindy Moon in Spider-Man 2 explained
Getting straight to the point, Cindy Moon is also known as Silk in the comic books. Now, we probably know what you're saying, who is Silk?
Silk is a more obscure female superhero who's part of the Spidey-family. She is still a relatively new character having been introduced in 2014 during the Marvel NOW! reboot of the universe in the comics.
Later that year she became a pivotal plot point during the Original Sin storyline, which had a tie-in story featuring Peter Parker/Spider-Man where it was revealed that the same radioactive spider that gave the iconic webhead his powers also bit Cindy Moon.
It's also revealed that to avoid putting the multiverse of Spider-people in danger, she willingly remained captive in a small bunker that would hide her presence from Morlun, a multiversal threat who seeked to kill every single Spider-Totem (Spider-people) there has ever existed.
Sadly for her, 13 years worth of sacrifice went down the drain when a guilt-tripped Peter Parker found out about the secret of her existence and decided to "free" her from the bunker. Don't feel too bad, as her liberation kicked off Morlun's Great Hunt, known to fans as the now iconic Spider-Verse storyline.
As you can see, Silk has been a pivotal character during these past 10 years of Spider-Man content, making everyone excited about what could Insomniac do with the character.
Clearly, her origin story will have to be altered, since she was seen next to his father, Albert, joining Rio Morales, Miles, and Hailey for dinner during the final scene of the main story.
Insomniac has taken quite a few creative licences with some characters in the Spider-Man mythos, such as Venom, and all signs point that their version of Cindy Moon/Silk will be a new one fans haven't seen before.
