What are focus bars?
Focus bars are indicators of good performance in combat. As you perform a number of successful attacking sequences and accumulate a huge combo of strikes, including air yanks, web throws, and disarming enemies, your bar will fill. With full focus bars, you can perform a number of special moves to dispatch enemies in style.
You can check your focus meter on the top left of your screen, right under your health, and to the right of your combo meter. It's a white line that will keep increasing and split into bars as you build it up. Once you've built up a focus bar, you'll receive a pretty hard-to-miss prompt at the top of your screen to let you know a focus bar is available.
How to build up focus bars
Building up your focus meter and focus bars is as simple as attacking enemies and landing hits. Furthermore, you can speed up this process and quickly build focus by chaining attacks and combos. The higher your combo meter, the more quickly your focus bar will increase. You can also build up focus by executing well-timed dodges and performing parries on incoming attacks.
How to use focus bars
There are multiple uses that you can get out of focus bars in Spider-Man 2. Here's what you can do.
Perform Finishers
Once you have a focus bar, you'll see a prompt appear next to an enemy you can finish off. Press the Triangle and Circle buttons together, and you'll be treated to a cool little cinematic of Spidey finishing off the enemy in style. Enemies with higher toughness can require more than one focus bar to finish off.
Heal your HP
You can also use the focus bars defensively and heal up. If you press the down button on your D-pad while in combat, you can recover your lost HP. The more focus bars you have, the more HP you will recover. It's smart to keep attacking and keep some backup focus built up in case you need emergency healing.
How to get more focus bars?
You can get more focus bars by investing in the Suit Tech upgrade tree. These upgrades will allow you to increase your focus bars and increase their build-up and recovery speed. You can also unlock new abilities that use the focus bar and increase your overall combat efficiency. Unlocking these Suit Tech upgrades will require a certain amount of Tech Parts and Rare Tech Parts.
