The Marvel universe’s version of New York City is one of the most dangerous places on the planet and you never know what to expect from it. One thing you can bank on though is that most of the criminals you’ll encounter on the streets will be armed. We’ve come up with this guide on how to disarm enemies in Spider-Man 2 to help you maintain the advantage of having superpowers.
The ability to disarm foes has been around since the original Spider-Man PS4 game and it is quite simple to pull off. The developers did decide to change things up a bit for the latest sequel, however, so you may be wondering how to perform the move this time around. So, let’s figure out how to disarm enemies in Spider-Man 2 to lessen the odds of being stabbed by a random thug in an alleyway.
We've got more Spidey content than you can shoot a web at in our dedicated Spider-Man 2 hub! We'll remind you of some of the fundamentals like healing Spider-Man and fast travelling through New York, but that's only the beginning! Master some of the key combat abilities like air yanking and webbing enemies to a wall to turn your foes into fools!
How to disarm enemies
To disarm enemies in Spider-Man 2, you will first need to unlock the Parry Disarm skill, which is found in Peter and Miles' combined skill tree. Once you have this, it's a simple matter of parrying an armed enemy and they’ll end up dropping their weapon.
Previous instalments in the series have an unlockable ability that lets you rip weapons right out of an enemy’s hand with your web shooters, but that skill didn’t make it into the sequel. So instead of having a separate skill for disarming enemies, it will be incorporated into your parries.
Fortunately, no changes have been made to performing parries in Spider-Man 2, so you'll be familiar with it if you've played the other games.
How to perform a parry
Performing a parry in Spider-Man 2 requires you to tap the L1 button just as you are about to get hit by an enemy. Parrying is listed as a basic combat skill, so both Peter and Miles will be able to perform it.
Pulling this off consistently may take some getting used to, but there will be in-game indicators to help you with the timing. If you’re having trouble using this ability, New York will have plenty of criminals wandering about for you to practice on.
