Booyah! Squid kids are back in force for the third iteration of the fresh and funky game, and here's our gallery of all the Splatoon 3 hairstyles that you can deck your Octo and Inklings out with.

Unlike the previous games, the only boundary for which hair you can have now is whether you choose to be an Inkling or an Octoling. The only difference between these two is the ear and eye shape, and the suction cups on the hairstyles. There are now eight Octoling haircuts and 16 Inkling options. Perfect for forming the coolest outfits!

Check out our Splatoon 3 preview to see what's coming, and our Splatoon 3 weapons tier list we know are in Splatoon 3. Here's a rundown of how to play the new TableTurf Battle, and the revamped Salmon Run, and how to get clothes to match your slick new hairdo.

All Splatoon 3 hairstyles

As a franchise, Splatoon has a big emphasis on style. It always has and presumably always will. In the first game, there were only two hairstyles to choose from, but then six for each gender in Splatoon 2. The latest entry has added even more.

Inklings

Within Splatoon lore there are two types of humanoid squid kids. The first is Inklings, who have been in each title so far. Their hairstyles haven't changed much, so you'll see the previous options back again, with some new additions:

Octolings

Introduced in Splatoon 2 with the Octo Expansion DLC, Octolings are a slightly different type of squid kid with a cool, winged eyeliner eye shape, and different hairstyle options. If you want to wear the classic afro style, you'll need to choose an Octoling body shape in the character creation menu.

How do I change my hairstyle in Splatoon 3?

Unlike items in your loadout and clothing options, you need to head to a different menu in order to change your hairstyle in Splatoon 3.

Open the equip menu, head to the options tab, and then to other options. Hit the 'Player Settings' button, and this will take you to the scene in the crater where your Inkling and Lil Buddy are waiting to be customised. You'll be able to change all of your looks here, not just your hair.

Other customisable options in Splatoon 3

The customisation screen is the same one that pops up at the beginning of the game. Here, there are a few different screens including skin tone, eye colour, hairstyle, leg wear, four different eyebrow shapes, and last but not least - Lil Buddy's hairstyle! Your little friend has eight hair options that you can equip it with.
