April 27, 2023: We have checked over what we know about microtransactions now that Star Wars Jedi Survivor is out.

Like there are in many other EA published games, are there Star Wars Jedi Survivor microtransactions you can spend money on? The likes of FIFA lean on their own heavily, but will the latest Star wars game follow suit?

If you're not a fan of them, you'll want to know if they're part of the game before you buy it. In theory, Star Wars Jedi Survivor could allow you to change how Cal looks through microtransactions, maybe altering the design of his lightsaber.

Fortunately, we have confirmation that Star Wars Jedi Survivor won’t feature microtransactions. Also, the developers don’t have plans to add them in future updates or expansions.

This information comes from this official EA Star Wars Twitter post, where you can see a statement about microtransactions. It states that the game won’t have loot boxes or other forms of minor monetisation.

This being said, you do get some exclusive cosmetics when you get the deluxe edition of the game.

Is the absence of microtransactions a good thing for Star Wars Jedi Survivor?

Microtransactions have become more and more significant in recent years. Some gamers hate any kind of loot box or other features that you need to pay for. Basically, it makes people feel that they’re not getting some content that should have been included in the game they purchased.

It is understandable when a free-to-play game has a special shop where you can buy various things for real money because this is the only way to actually monetise the project. However, recent years have shown us that such a system can be added to a pay-to-play single-player game.

So, it's good news that there won’t be loot boxes or other types of microtransactions. Although, this statement doesn’t say anything about expansion packs and DLCs that may be released in the future. And before you go, check out our guide on Star Wars Jedi Survivor pre order bonuses.
