How to refuel ship in Starfield

In Starfield, you should know that your ship doesn't need to refuel at all. This means that you don't have to look for fueling stations at spaceports. Additionally, fuel refills automatically when you're flying or exploring any planet in space. The automatic refueling process for your ship happens quite fast so refueling isn't something to worry about anymore.

Your ship's fuel is full most of the time and will only decrease when you gravity jump. You won't be able to do significant gravity jumps as these will completely deplete your fuel tank. With that in mind, we suggest you jump to closer systems and wait for a while before jumping again.

Can you increase your fuel capacity in Starfield?

While refuelling isn't something to worry about anymore, you should know you can improve your ship's fuel capacity. Increasing the fuel capacity helps you gravity jump to farther space systems. There are two ways you can increase your fuel capacity.

Buy more fuel tanks or steal better ships

If you buy more fuel tanks, it increases your fuel supply. You can also consider stealing better ships as some may have better fuel tanks than the ones you grind on building.

Take note that some of the best fuel tanks can increase your fuel amount to around 400 to 600 units. So, decide wisely if you want to build your ship or just steal a good one.

Upgrade the Astrodynamics skill

Another option you have is developing the Astrodynamic skill. This won't exactly increase your fuel supply, however, it will reduce the cost of the gravity jumps you make. Upon upgrading this skill, you can reduce the cost of gravity jumps by up to 50%.
