When you first launch Starfield and acquire traits, you'll be asked if you want to choose one of the major religions in the game. You can choose only one at any given time, and if you choose the House of the Enlightened you will get access to the Starfield Raised Enlightened Trait Chest rewards, which you can grab at New Atlantis.
The Raised Enlightened trait effect states that you grew up as a member of the House of the Enlightened. You gain access to a special chest full of items in the House of the Enlightened in New Atlantis but lose access to the Sanctum Universum chest.
We'll go over all of the rewards and help you decide if the rewards and Raised Enlightened trait are worth it. Before we talk more about the House of Enlightenment and its rewards, consider checking out our guides on how to hide contraband and how to sell items.
How to find Starfield Raised Enlightened trait chest rewards
To access the House of the Enlightened and grab the chest, you need to have the Raised Enlightened trait. If you did not select the trait when you created your character, the chest will not be visible. Once you’re set, here’s how you can find the chest:
- Travel to New Atlantis
- Land at Spaceport, head straight and turn left
- Walk towards the Jemison Mercantile building and turn right
- There is an elevator that will take you to The Well. Enter it
- Once you exit the elevator you will reach the House of the Enlightened
Inside the building, you will notice that there is an office, and heading left into the room full of chairs will lead you to the chest.

Starfield Raised Enlightened trait chest rewards - Are they worth it?
The rewards are not worth it, as you should pick up the Kid Stuff or Dream House Traits instead, which are far superior. That being said, you can just grab the chest rewards and remove the trait by talking to Andy Singh. He is located in the main hub of the building, and speaking to him can help you remove the trait.
- Talk to Andy Singh at the House of the Enlightened
- Select the option: “[Raised Enlightened] I’m not sure I want to be a part of the Enlightened anymore.”
- Select the option: “[Remove Raised Enlightened Trait permanently] I just can’t be part of the Enlightened anymore.”
