How do I sell items in Starfield?

As hinted at above, selling items in Starfield is a bit more complex than we've seen in previous Bethesda RPGs. As with other titles, you can only sell items at merchants, vendors, and stores; the people you go to when you purchase new wares.

However, the caveat in Starfield is that vendors will only purchase items that relate to their specific industry. As such, you can only sell weapons at gun stores, medicines at pharmacies, and so on.

Fortunately, you can go to the old reliable Distribution Center on New Atlantis instead of fiddling around with specific stores. This megashop will buy absolutely anything, so if you've got tonnes to sell but don't want to flit between stores, this is a better option.

All you need to do when looking to sell items in Starfield is approach the storefront and follow the prompts to sell your own goods. This will then pull up two inventories for you to sell from: your own stash, and your ship's inventory. You can select any item from either to sell, while also seeing how many credits the vendor will give you for it.

One thing to note is that you don't get to see your companion's inventory on that selling screen - anything they have in their stash remains untouchable. If they've got an especially rare weapon or treasure you want to shift for some cash, simply opt out of the selling menu, swap with them as you regularly would, and then sell the item on.

Now you know how to sell items in Starfield, you'll be able to offload your junk or unwanted items for some precious credits in no time. They'll come in handy if you're trying to buy the best weapons, or if you're saving up for a new ship to make your vessel the best in the entire galaxy!
