How to use Super Mario RPG Action Commands
To use Action Commands in Super Mario RPG, you’ll need to tap the A button as you are attacking. Get the timing right on this and your attack will deal extra damage. Have perfect timing with the Action Command and you will deal additional shock wave damage to nearby enemies.
You can also use Action Commands while you’re on the receiving end of an attack by pressing A to reduce damage. Pull it off with perfect timing, and you will take no damage at all.
Some special moves in the game have Action Commands that will have you do more than just press A at the right time. These commands may require you to do things like mash the A button or rotate the L-stick.
How to time Super Mario RPG Action Commands
The timing for Action Commands will vary depending on your equipment and the type of enemy you are facing. For this reason, a “!” will appear to tell you when to use an Action Command after encountering a new enemy or using a new weapon.
This indicator won’t stick around forever though since it will disappear once you start getting the command’s timing right.
