What are treasure chests in Super Mario RPG?
Treasure chests in Super Mario RPG will provide you with some items and temporary power-ups. Some of these items may seem familiar but act differently from the ones you can carry around in your inventory.
Here’s a list of the things you can obtain from a treasure chest in Super Mario RPG.
- Mushrooms – a mushroom obtained from a treasure chest will not be added to your inventory, but will instantly restore the entire party’s HP and FP (Flower Points) instead.
- Flowers – automatically increase your maximum FP by one.
- Stars – become invincible for a short time, instantly defeating any enemy you come in contact with.
- Coins – add money to your pockets. Small coins are worth one, large coins are worth ten.
These chests are scattered throughout the world and can be found with a bit of exploration. However, there are hidden chests in the game known as Surprise Boxes that can only be located with an item called the Signal Ring.
