While blocking may be a fundamental of fighting games, unless you're the type to bite down on your mouthpiece and swing for the fences, it's not always abundantly clear how to protect yourself from incoming attacks. Thankfully, it's not terribly difficult to do in Tekken 8. To block your enemy's attacks, hold the directional button away from your opponent. That means if you are in the standard left positioning on the screen, you simply need to hold the left button and your fighter will assume a defensive position.

It is worth noting that there are layers to your offensive and defensive offerings in Tekken 8, so simply standing there in a blocking position won't completely protect you. In a similar fashion, you can ward off low strikes by your opponent as well. To perform a low block, hold the directional button away from your opponent and the down button at the same time (left-down at the standard stance).
