If you're just getting into the game Undecember, then you'll inevitably pick up some curious looking items called Essences. Those little trinkets are used in the crafting process for the game. There's a lot of crafting currencies so our Undecember crafting guide will be of great help in grasping all of them.
If you're an ARPG veteran then this system may be something you're familiar with, but for newer players to the genre, the sheer amount of currency and possibility can be overwhelming. It's worth learning though because crafting your own gear can be a major savings over buying the same piece of gear on the auction house.

Undecember crafting guide
There's a few different categories of crafting currencies that you'll come across in the game as you play through the campaign and end game. These can affect your gear, and your skill runes. Let's start with the Rune essences.
Rune essences

| Rune Color Essence | Changes the color of the connected slot randomly. |
| Rune Five Pointed Essence | Adds a rune slot to the skill rune and changes it to 5 slots. |
| Skill Rune Magic Increase Essence | Changes the skill rune normal grade to magic grade. |
| Skill Rune Rare Rising Essence | Changes the Skill Rune’s grade from magic to rare. |
| Skill Rune Legend Rising Essence | Changes a Skill Rune’s grade from Rare to Legendary. |
| Link Rune Magic Rising Essence | Changes the link rune normal grade to magic grade. |
| Link Rune Rare Rising Essence | Changes the Link Rune’s grade from magic to rare. |
| Link Rune Legend Rising Essence | Changes a Link Rune’s grade from Rare to Legendary. |
First off, Rune Essences will alter your Skill and Link runes. The first three are very common and will randomly change the number, position or color of the slots on the skill rune. Using these slots and connecting them to Link Runes will power up the skill. The next one add slots to the skill rune up to five deterministically. The last ones will upgrade the tier of skill or link runes to higher tiers, increasing their power. Now let's get to the gear crafting essences.

| Regression Essence | Changes Magic, Rare, and Legendary grade items to Normal grade. |
| Rare Ascension Essence | Changes magic grade items to rare grades. |
| Rare Birth Essence | Randomly re-applies options to rare-grade items. |
| Rare Enchantment Essence | Adds 1 additional option randomly to rare grade items. |
| Rare Change Essence | Reapplys the numerical value of the options granted to rare grade items. |
| Rare Extended Essence | +1 to the maximum number of options for rare grade items. (Maximum 6) |
| Vanishing Essence | Randomly removes 1 option of Magic or Rare grade items. |
| Quality Birth Essence | Deletes the existing quality of general grade items and grants a new one. |
| Quality Renovation Essence | Rare, Legendary Changes the quality of items with quality +10 or higher by -5 to +10. Can only be used once per item. |
| Prefix Option Birth Essence | Randomly re-grants the prefix option for magic and rare grade items. |
| Remove Prefix Option Essence | Randomly removes 1 type from the prefix option of magic or rare grade items. |
| Suffix option birth essence | Randomly re-grants suffix options for magic and rare grade items. |
| Essence to remove suffix option | Randomly removes 1 type from the suffix option of magic or rare grade items. |
| Legendary Rising Essence | Changes Rare tier items to Legendary tier. Existing options can no longer be enchanted. |
| Legendary Enchantment Essence | Adds 1 additional option to Legendary grade items. |
| Alyssa Essence | Rare items of level 70 or higher have a chance to re-grant options, and a high tier with a high probability. |
| Vesper Essence | Retains the options granted to rare equipment items of level 70 or higher and grants tiers again. The highest tier is awarded to at least one option, including options with the highest tier fixed. |
There is a LOT to unpack her, but we can break it down into a few categories. These currencies can either upgrade / downgrade the piece of gear, reroll affixes / quality, or add / remove affixes onto the item. You'll get the lower tier ones a lot more often, which does incentivize you to craft early and often, but higher tier / rarer currencies should be saved and used sparingly for the best gear for your character.

These final essences are Power essences. They are end game crafts, and drop from doing end game quests and activities. These will put a power on a piece of gear, while also rerolling the item's affixes. These again should be used sparingly and only on higher level or tiers of gear.
