In Metaphor: ReFantazio, how you distribute and spend your stat points plays a crucial role in your character's development. Luck is promising yet often misunderstood among all the stats. Unlike Strength or Magic, which affect gameplay, Luck operates subtly but can significantly impact your overall experience.
It can help you deal more damage through critical hits, obtain rare items, or inflict status ailments on enemies. In the late stages, where the game dynamics are more challenging, Luck becomes more important. This guide will explain how Luck works and how it can shape your journey in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
What Does Luck Stat Do?
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, the Luck stat directly affects your chance-based skills during the gameplay. It mainly impacts three areas: critical hit rate, item drop rate, and status ailments infliction rate.
Critical Hit Rate
One major advantage of Luck is that it increases your critical hit rate. With a higher Luck stat, you will get a better chance of hitting your physical attacks (such as slash, strike, or pierce) to land as critical hits. By doing that, you will cause more damage than a normal attack.
It is important to note that critical hits only apply to physical attacks (such as melee skills like slash, strike, and pierce) and do not benefit magic base skills such as spells.
Item Drop Rate
Luck increases your chances of obtaining extra items. After defeating enemies, you can receive bonus items like weapons, armor, or consumables. Increasing Luck can greatly improve your chances of getting these extra rewards.
Status Ailment Infliction
Luck also helps you inflict status ailments like Charm, Burn, Forget, or Stun. Even if an attack or item has the potential to cause a status effect, the actual chance of this happening is determined by your Luck. The higher your Luck, the more likely you are to land these ailments, especially in tough battles.
How to Increase Luck
You can raise your Luck stat in several ways to maximize its benefits.
Stat Point Allocation
Every time your character levels up, you can assign points to your stats, and Luck is one of the available options. By allocating points to Luck, you can permanently increase its value.
Equippable Items
While equipped, certain weapons, armor, and accessories provide passive boosts to the Luck stat. Items like the Investor’s Jewel and Gambler’s Jewel are designed to increase Luck. Below are some of the best items that provide Luck bonuses:
- Investor’s Jewel (+9 Luck)
- Narcissus’s Brooch (+15 Luck)
- Gambler’s Jewel (+3 Luck)
- Swindler’s Jewel (+6 Luck)
- Golden Gauntlets (+5 Luck)
- Fortune’s Grasp (+10 Luck)
Archetype Bonuses
Some Archetypes, like the Merchant and Faker, naturally provide bonuses to Luck. If you switch to these Archetypes, you can temporarily boost your Luck stat, which helps you in battles where chance-based outcomes are crucial.
Temporary Luck Boosts
You can also take advantage of temporary boosts to increase your Luck stat. One unique way to increase Luck is by using the Gauntlet Runner toilet on days ending in 0 or 5. This mechanic offers a short-term boost to your Luck that will last for the remainder of the day.
