Leveling in World of Warcraft is a pretty lengthy process. Regardless of what class you play, knowing what the best spec, talents and even professions that you roll with can make that process much smoother. Our guide will cover all those details and more as you venture into Northrend.

While you're here, if you're interested in other Wrath of the Lich King Classic content, then check out our DPS Tier list, our Healer Tier list and our Tank tier list. You might also be interested in our dungeon guides, such as our guide for Utgarde Keep.

Best Hunter leveling spec for Wrath Classic

To kick things off, we have to look each of the specs available to us and look at the pros and cons of each and give you a recommendation at the end.

Marksmanship

  • Pros
    • Great single target DPS
    • Some AoE
    • Good CC through Traps
  • Cons
    • Highly dependent on Armor Penetration

Survival

  • Pros
    • Great AoE and CC
    • Very Fun
  • Cons
    • Weak for leveling
    • May struggle in end game content

Beast Mastery

  • Pros
    • Great for solo play
    • Good CC via traps
  • Cons
    • Lack of Single Target DPS
    • Highly dependent on Pets for damage
    • Raid buff covered by other classes

Based on these, there is one clear choice for leveling. Beast Mastery is going to be your top choice for leveling. You can rely on your pets to tank a lot of the damage. You will end up doing a respec to Marksman for end game, but BM is the king of solo and leveling content.

Now let's look at the tree. For the first 60 or so, you're going to take the talents that are purely in the Beast Mastery Tree.

From 60 - 70, you're going to take the remainder of what's shown in the Beast Mastery Tree, as well as Lethal Shots and Mortal Shots. Here's what to take from 71 on.

  • Level 71: Aimed Shot
  • Level 72 - 73: Rapid Killing
  • Level 74 - 75: Go for the Throat
  • Level 76 - 80: Improved Tracking

At level 80, you'll respec into Marksman for the end game content, but this should get you through leveling no problem.

Best Hunter leveling professions for WotLK Classic

For the top professions to level, there isn't much that really benefits the end game. We'd recommend picking up skinning, which will give you the Master of Anatomy buff, and mining which will give you Toughness. Outside of that, Engineering would be good to level later on.

Best Hunter glyphs for WotLK Classic

Loading...

For Glyphs, we have three major and three minor glyphs to work with, so here are our recommendations.

Majors

  • Glyph of Hunter's Mark
  • Glyph of Serpent Sting
  • Glyph of Bestial Wrath

Minors

  • Glyph of Feign Death
  • Glyph of Mend Pet
  • Glyph of Revive Pet

Our major glyphs are about building our damage. The first two are quite important as they're frequently used abilities. The last one you can pick of a few options, but we'd say Bestial Wrath is good for now. Our minor glyphs are all quality of life cooldowns. Feign Death is a great ability for getting yourself out of bad situations. The second two are for assisting our pets.

And that's all that we have for you! The Hunter is fun class overall, and by the end of the expansion, they are solid DPS options, especially for their Crowd Control. While you're here, definitely check out our Wrath Classic PVP tier list, as well as some other dungeon guides, for the Nexus, and the Culling of Stratholme.
