Wuthering Waves' upcoming version 2.2 update, "Tangled Truth in Inverted Tower," is packed with a new region called Avinoleum, fresh gameplay features, events full of rewards, and a new character.
The update coming this March 27 welcomes returning and new characters that players can pull for in the forthcoming banners (convenes). They also come with weapon banners that will strengthen the character's stats. This update is actually exciting as it features reruns of some of the best characters in the game.
Upcoming Wuthering Waves Banners
Like most Gacha games, the Wuthering Waves banner runs are split into two phases. The first phase features the character banners "Neptune's Lullaby" and "End of Lost Trail," along with the weapon convenes "Whispers of Sirens" and "Red Spring," which will run from the release of 2.2 (March 27) until April 17.
Neptune's Lullaby - Phase 1
The Neptune's Lullaby convene features the new playable character Cantarella, whose movements remind me a lot of Kokomi in Genshin Impact. Her kit makes her a good sub-DPS while healing her entire team.
Her banner also features 4-star characters Danjin, Chixia, and Yuanwu. One of the best 4-stars to pull for dupes would be Danjin if you want a Hybrid character.
- *NEW! Cantarella - 5-star (Havoc, Rectifier)
- Danjin - 4-star (Havoc, Sword)
- Chixia - 4-star (Fusion, Pistols)
- Yuanwu - 4-star (Electro, Gauntlets)
End of Lost Trail - Phase 1
This banner features the character rerun of Camellya, one of the best DPS characters in the game. In just under three months, she has already had another rerun due to her popularity.
- Camellya - 5-star (Havoc, Sword)
- Danjin - 4-star (Havoc, Sword)
- Chixia - 4-star (Fusion, Pistols)
- Yuanwu - 4-star (Electro, Gauntlets)
The second phase of Wuthering Waves version 2.2 will run from April 17 onwards and only feature one character rerun banner, "Till the Sea Turns Clear," and the weapon banner, "Stellar Symphony."
Till the Sea Turns Clear - Phase 2
Shorekeeper is having a solo rerun in the second phase of Wuthering Waves version 2.2. She tops the Support Tier lists as one of the best supports in the game, alongside Verina. There aren't many 5-star character supports in the game yet, and it's unknown when players will get another one.
Her rerun banner also features 4-star characters Baizhi, Sanhua, and Aalto. Of these three, it'll be worth getting copies of Sanhua as she's one of the top Hybrid characters in the game. Baizhi is also worth getting dupes for as she's a good support if you don't have Verina and lost 50/50 for Shorekeeper.
- Shorekeeper - 5-star (Spectro, Rectifier)
- Baizhi - 4-star (Glacio, Rectifier)
- Sanhua - 4-star (Glacio, Sword)
- Aalto - 4-star (Aero, Pistols)
Who to Pull For
Version 2.2 makes it hard for every Wuthering Waves player to choose who to pull for since it features three great characters. If you're on the hunt for an amazing DPS (damage per second) character, it would be best to pull for Camellya. She's fairly easy to use with little practice and is probably the best AoE damage dealer in the game. Her AoE attacks can clear multiple enemies fast, and she has the ability to float, which allows her to dodge most ground attacks.
Her damage will remain consistent throughout the fight even without the help of her Ultimate attack, giving her an advantage over other DPS characters. Other than that, she's just really fun to play with. You just spin and spin to clear enemies. You can also pull for her signature weapon if you have some spare Astrites, but her weapon's mostly just usable by her.
However, if you're looking for a support character apart from Verina, your best bet would be to pull for Shorekeeper. She is a solid choice if you want a "proven and tested" support besides Verina. The main highlight for me in Shorekeeper's kit would be when she activates Resonance Liberation, the characters in the team will receive boosts to their Crit Rate and Crit DMG.
Not only that, but she provides continuous healing for the entire team. She almost fits in any team composition, so you don't have to stress over not having a certain character to maximize her utilities. Do note that she relies a lot on Concerto Energy regeneration, so it's best to focus on her Intro and weapons such as Variation or her signature weapon. If you plan to pull for her, it's best to also pull for her signature "Stellar Symphony."
On the other hand, since Cantarella's still a new character and there would be build tests to come, there's still uncertainty on whether you can play her as a hypercarry (I play Zhezhi carry), sub-DPS, or a support. Her Resonance Liberation inflicts Diffusion on all Resonators in the team. When the character with Diffusion attacks, Cantarella deals coordinated attacks, which allow her to deal damage even without taking field time.
However, she also has healing that restores HP for the entire team, making her somewhat of a support. With the current information on her kit, it feels like she'd be more of a Hybrid character. It may all depend on how you build her if she'd be more of a sub-DPS or support.
That wraps up the Wuthering Waves 2.2 convenes. Hopefully you get the pulls you want and win your 50/50!
