Are you looking for details on the XDefiant preseason? We’ve got intel on what it is and what type of content is in it within this guide.

Having seasonal content is quite common for games these days and that’s especially true for competitive first-person shooters. XDefiant will also have regular updates to keep things fresh, but what exactly is the game’s preseason?

While the XDefiant Preseason doesn't include the competitive ranked mode, you've got access to pretty much everything else, including XDefiant's crossplay and cross-progression features.

XDefiant Preseason Explained

The XDefiant Preseason features all the content included in the game at launch, most of which has been previously available in various playtests. While XDefiant will have seasonal content, the start of its first season does not coincide with the game’s release.

But, that doesn’t mean that you’ll find XDefiant lacking in content at launch. The preseason will provide players with plenty to get into and time to explore the game. It’s a great opportunity to figure things out before things get more competitive in XDefiant, and more items are added.

What makes the Preseason different from future seasons is that you've likely already experienced most of what it has to offer. Since the previous playtests included all of the weapons, modes, Factions, and a handful of maps, there's little 'new' on offer during the Preseason. As the name suggests though, XDefiant is only just getting started.

How Long is XDefiant’s Preseason?

The XDefiant Preseason is scheduled to last for six weeks before Season 1 comes out. After that, players will spend three months on each new season.

Ubisoft has promised that every new season of XDefiant will see a new Faction, three new weapons, three new maps, a 90-tier battle pass, and in-game events. That’s plenty to look forward to on a regular basis.

XDefiant Preseason Battle Pass

XDefiant's Preseason has its own 50-tier battle pass, plus various free track rewards, including a new weapon, unique skins, player animations, and more.

The Preseason Battle Pass items are:

  • MDR assault rifle
  • MDR - Blaze skin (Legendary)
  • ACR - Anarchy skin (Rare)
  • M16A4 - Hi-Velocity skin (Rare)
  • Vector - Hi-Velocity skin (Rare)
  • Green - Blaze skin (Legendary)
  • Gia - Anarchy skin (Rare)
  • Samir - Hi-Velocity skin (Rare)
  • Jing - Game Over skin (Rare)
  • Iselda - Anarchy skin (Rare)
  • Gunfighter player animation (Legendary)
  • Superhero Landing player animation (Epic)
  • Up Top player animation (Rare)
  • XP Boosts
  • 700 XCoins (premium currency)
  • Various player cards
  • Various emoji sets

As you can see, the Preseason Battle Pass already kicks things off with a hefty collection of free and paid rewards. Most exciting of all, however, is the MDR, a brand-new weapon.

Interestingly, since the Preseason is shorter than a full Season, the associated pass is also shorter. Instead of the standard 90 tiers of every other battle pass in the XDefiant roadmap, the Preseason's pass is just 50 tiers of rewards.
