Legend of Zelda: The Tears of Kingdom is finally here and Switch owners everywhere are excited to start the journey. Of course, each player has a different skill level, and adjusting the difficulty is an almost unthinkable part of most modern games, but can you change difficulty in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
Here you will find out everything you need to know if you are struggling with progressing through the story or if you find the game too easy!
Can you change the difficulty in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
The answer is no, unfortunately, there is no difficulty setting in Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo don't often add difficulty settings to their games. Even though every player is different, Nintendo tries to tailor their games to suit a wide audience, and usually, they hit the nail on the head.
But what if you find the game too easy or too hard? For people looking for a real challenge, there is the Master Mode. And if you are struggling with completing quests, there are ways to make the game a little easier.
What is the Master Mode?
The Master Mode was an additional game mode introduced to the previous Zelda game, Breath of the Wild (which is also worth playing if you haven’t done so already). In Breath of the Wild, much like Tears of the Kingdom, there wasn’t a conventional difficulty setting, but they introduced the Master Mode in The Master Trials DLC Pack.
Master Mode was a way to make the game more difficult for players who are looking for a real challenge. It would make most enemies, including bosses, more powerful, and also give them the ability to regenerate some of their health over time. There were also some other minor changes to make the game more difficult. It is possible that Tears of the Kingdom gets a Master Mode in a future DLC, so if you want to make your game harder, you will hopefully get the option to.
What to do if I am struggling in Tears of the Kingdom?
Even though the game doesn’t feature easy mode, there are still ways to make the game easier if you are having trouble. If you are struggling to get through the main quest line, consider doing something else for a while to make Link stronger.
In Tears of the Kingdom, you can cook food that will give you health and special effects. If you are having trouble defeating a boss or you can’t get past a particular area, you can stock up on food and that will help you progress with fewer issues.
You can also gain more hearts by completing Shrines around the map, which will grant you a Light of Blessing. You can trade four of these for a heart container at a Goddess Statue.
You can also stock up on some materials. In Tears of the Kingdom, you can stick materials to each other. You can also stick them to arrows, which will grant your shots some bonus effects.
Last but not least, you can upgrade your armour at Great Fairy Fountains. You will need rupees to unlock the fountains, and inside you can give materials to fairies, who will then upgrade your armour.
