Gloom hearts

Wondering how to recover Gloom hearts in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? We've got you covered. Gloom is a new status condition that manages to deplete Link's maximum health. It'll leave you vulnerable to any incoming enemy attacks if you don't take the necessary steps to prevent it.

Even if you manage to see your hearts corrupt, there's a way to clear the condition. In fact, there are several ways you can regain the hearts lost when you're affected by the Gloom terrain in the Depths, or hit by Gloom-infested monsters.

How to recover Gloom hearts in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

There are two ways you can recover Gloom hearts. Preperation is always key, but you can shake the condition if you happen to have certain materials on hand if you find yourself taking on the gloom without warning. So, whenever your health is starting to run low, here's what you need to do.

Cook with a Sundelion

Sundelion is one of several ingredients you'll come across. It's a type of plant that grows in the sunlight at high altitudes meaning you can only find it on the Sky Islands.

Using a Sundelion as an ingredient in specific dishes will restore any depleted health caused by the Gloom. We recommend farming Sundelions and making them into dishes so you've always got something to recover the Gloom hearts with ease.

Bathe in the sunlight

The second method to restore Gloom hearts in Tears of the Kingdom is to step out into the sunlight. Simply head to the surface and catch those rays to restore health without using any items stored in your inventory.

Standing in the sun to recover Gloom hearts only takes a few seconds. And once the status has disappeared, you can continue exploring without the Gloom depleting your maximum HP even further.
