W-Engines are gear you can equip to enhance your characters' abilities to increase their effectiveness in combat, such as increasing damage or supportive effects. You can only equip one per character though, so it's important to choose wisely.

They are similar to Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail and weapons in Genshin Impact which help increase the agent's stats and combat potential.

How to get W-Engines in Zenless Zone Zero

To get W-Engines in ZZZ, you need to spend pulls in the W-Engine Channel of the Signal Search system. This is the gacha system within Zenless Zone Zero which you can use to obtain rare and powerful W-Engines and agents to add to your roster.

The W-Engine Channel is the limited weapon event banner which also refreshes roughly every two weeks.

  • Cost: Encrypted Master Tape
  • S-Rank pity - Every 80 pulls
  • A-Rank pity - Every 10 pulls
  • 75% Chance that your S-Rank pull will be the featured rate-up character.
  • Both pity and 75/25 carry forward to the next ZZZ limited event banner.

You can also get lower Rank W-Engines that are part of the Standard pool in other banners, including the permanent Stable Channel.

After completing specific parts of the main story and reaching the main gameplay, the game unlocks the Signal Seach. Once you've unlocked it, all you need to do is access it via the menu.

The second way of obtaining W-Engines is by crafting them in the Gadget Store, an in-game shop. Use the Travel System to teleport here, and you can start crafting your preferred W-Engines in no time.

How to Equip W-Engines in Zenless Zone Zero

Each character is limited to having just one W-Engine. The slot is in the center of the Equip menu. Surrounding it are six slots for different Disc Drives.

Disc Drives in Zenless Zone Zero are like artifacts from Genshin Impact and help to boost the agent's combat and survival stats. When synced with a W-Engine, your agent can become an unstoppable force within its team composition.

Zenless Zone Zero W-Engine Rarity Ranks

There are three rarity tiers for W-Engines in Zenless Zone Zero:

  • S-Rank: The most powerful weapons in the game. These have higher base stats than lower tiers and help curate robust team compositions.
  • A-Rank: Easier to obtain than the S-Rank options, A-Rank W-Engines are highly capable. They are trustworthy in mid-game progression and improve characters' attacks and bonus effects.
  • B-Rank: These are the most common W-Engines. They are the easiest to obtain and are better than nothing, though you'll want to upgrade to a higher tier as soon as you can in most cases.

One common feature of all rarity W-Engines is granting special abilities to the equipped agent/character. Additionally, you can refine these W-Engines four times, boosting them from one-star to five-star level. For this, you'll need W-Engine EXP materials that enhance these components efficiently.
