Hogwarts Legacy seems to be the game that fans of the legendary series have been waiting for.
It was announced during the Sony PlayStation PS5 Showcase.
Unfortunately, most Harry Potter games have been pretty sub-par but we think Hogwarts Legacy will end that trend.
Here's what went wrong with previous titles and what we think needs to be improved on for the newest instalment in the series.
Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is expected to launch late 2021 on Xbox, Playstation and PC.
Avalanche Software is currently developing the game.
Here's a quick overview of the game courtesy of the official website:
"Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.
Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic.
Discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it."
We can't wait to see what's to come but let's take a trip down memory lane and talk about some of the previous games in the series.
Must-Have Changes For Hogwarts Legacy
Sticking Too Close To The Films' Story
Many of the previous titles have a habit of sticking too close to the narrative.
There wasn't much diversion from the storyline which became quite boring over time.
Take the Star Wars games as an example, some of the bestsellers allowed you to play the original story but also explore things that were never mentioned in the films.
We all want to experience what it's like to be at Hogwarts but we want more than just a re-enactment!
Character Options
Once again, its a dream come true to be in the Harry Potter universe but we are tired of playing as Mr Potter.
Sure we love his dorky charm but we want more in terms of character options and customisation!
Luckily it looks like we'll get to see this become a reality in Hogwarts Legacy, quoted from the official website, "customize your character and craft potions".
Fingers crossed there will be representation for all, a lot of games recently have missed the mark in terms of a diverse customisation system.

More Small Details
From the overview given about Hogwarts Legacy, it looks like it's way more advanced than previous games.
The fact that its open-world says a lot about how much has gone into creating the game.
Games with intricate details have so much more substance.
It would be great to do thing such as collecting chocolate frog cards.
They're small things but stuff that lovers of the series will really appreciate.
Friendships
As a long time player of The Sims, PLEASE bring friendships to Hogwarts Legacy.
It's a completely different experience having to build a relationship with characters rather than interacting with robots.
I love seeing the way that character will react/talk to a player based off of the level of their rapport.
We have a feeling Hogwarts Legacy is going to be a hit, well, fingers crossed we're right!
