Horizon Forbidden West is an open-world action role-playing game from Guerilla Games and it's the sequel to the highly successful Horizon Zero Dawn. Set six months after the end of the first game, the world is in trouble yet again. A red blight is spreading across the land, infecting anything it touches. Aloy must venture into the Forbidden West to find a way to stop it before it's too late, and that's not the only threat she'll uncover.
As she goes into the Forbidden West, she'll encounter a new enemy in the form of a vengeful Rebel Leader called Regalla. She's determined to enact her wrath on anyone who has wronged her, and she will kill anyone else who gets in her way. On top of this, there are a lot of brand-new machines for Aloy to find. Many of them have brand-new abilities and fighting styles that you must learn to counter if she's to survive. So, as you're fighting off waves of deadly machines, the last thing you'll want to experience is FPS lag. However, that seems to be a prominent issue at the moment.
In this guide, we're going to show you the current fix for the FPS lag bug.
How to Fix FPS Lag Bug
If your console is up to date as well as the version of your game, the main fix for the FPS Lag is to restart from your last save point. Where this will take you will depend on what save happened last. If your manual save at a Campfire was your most recent one, then the game will restart from there. If your most recent save was part of an autosave function, then you'll be taken back to that point. For example: An autosave triggers when you enter the heart of a Cauldon. If, like us, the FPS Lag strikes during that fight and you restart from a save, it will take you back to the beginning of the fight.
However, if restarting from a save does not fix the issue, then you may need to exit the game. Once the game has closed, re-open it as per usual, and choose to load your save file from the "load game" option in the main menu.
Fortunately, there is a fix in the works for this visual issue (as well as others). Until a patch comes through that makes this issue non-existent, we highly recommend saving your game at any Campfire you see. That way, you are covered if you need to restart at any point.
