Assassin's Creed Codename Red release date speculation
Assassin's Creed Codename Red does not yet have an official release window. We know that the final chapter of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is set to launch in 2022 and Assassin's Creed Mirage will launch in 2023 but we don't know much more beyond that. This being said, it is said to be the next major title and the start of Assassin's Creed Infinity
With all of this in mind, we could imagine it launching in Holiday 2024, just over two years from now. We know the setting and team so they must be far enough along in development to have settled ideas and a story in place.
What is Assassin's Creed Codename Red's setting?
Assassin's Creed Codename Red is set during Feudal Japan. Though we only got a thirty-second clip at Ubisoft Forward, we know you will play a Shinobi, in a huge open world. This game is very different in style and tone from Mirage. Where Mirage is attempting to emulate much of the charm of early Assassin's Creed, Red plans to bring it forward.
Like the previous three games, it is an open-world RPG. This being said, it is said to be very different to the previous games, showing where the franchise will go in the future. This is, essentially, the blueprint for Assassin's Creed Infinity.
How will it tie into the rest of the story?
Infinity is going for a multi-stage story, where each game has self-contained narratives but they all play into some central plot tying them together. It seems that Red and Mirage are designed to be playable by themselves but at their best when you play both. For this reason, we can expect present-day storylines to intersect with both.
If you're looking to play something else while you wait and don't want to put any money upfront, there are tonnes of free games to try out.
